Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

Published

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Thanks olioxenfree, do you happen to know all the titers and vaccinations we need? I know we need hep b, tb test, mmr, and the varicella titer. Do you know if we need Hep a ? I think we do but thought I would ask before spending the money and it is adding up.

I also got the email saying that financial aid was suspended. After addressing the issue with a financial aid counselor, I was told that the aid was suspended because i had completed the pre-reqs and was only a nursing applicant. She explained to me that after I get accepted into the program I will have to go back to the admissions office and change my status from nursing applicant to AS Health. Then I will have to go to the financial aid office to file an appeal and get my aid back. Hope this helps clear some confusion.

Got my acceptance letter this weekend. Im beyond excited:roflmao:

Quick question....does anybody plan on accepting their seat contingent on what campus assignment they get? For example, I plan on accepting my seat, but can only attend the Plant City "nights and weekends" campus. All other campuses aren't an option for me at this time. I think it's kind of backwards that they want you to accept before knowing what campus you will be attending.....

They have a Hep A/B shot that is together. It's what I got. It's a series of 3 shots over a 6 month period. Also not included in your list is, tetorifice if you haven't had one in the last couple of years, I got the DTAP. I bought a couple of scrub tops from Allheart.com. They have really good prices. Got a couple for $6 each. I don't want to spend a lot. But as for the shoes, I am going to spend a little more, because we'll be on our feet all day for clinicals. Timberland Renova and Klogs seem to be good shoes but they are a little pricey, around $100. I'm not sure about, I'm going to wait for orientation to see what they say about it. I hope everybody gets their campus, but if you don't, maybe you can find someone to switch with. I want DM Mornings, but will take afternoons if that's all they have. Can't wait for orientation to have all of our questions answered.

Over a 6 month period for the Hep shots? yikes...I was planning to start my immunizations in June. Hope its o.k. to still be in the middle of the series when classes begin.

I would accept and then withdraw if you don't get the campus assignment you want. No one knows their campus assignment yet, so we will have all accepted without knowing. They probably have a number of people drop after assignments.

Got my acceptance letter today! I'm in! Ahh the wait is finally over! I'm finally stress-free. :)

Where did you get your Hep A &B together?

Yea, I figured the whole accept/withdrawl method would be the way to go. I would just hate to be blacklisted for January in the unlikely event that I don't get campus I need. After all, it is HCC so you never know.

I got my shots at my doctors office, all covered by my insurance. They did the titers and the tb test also. It doesn't matter if you aren't done with the series. As long as you started it. We also have to take the CPR class. It's good for 2 years so I'm waiting till the end of may. I think hcc has it for $25?

The vaccines aren't officially listed anywhere that I could find, but there are several threads on here. I figure they will give us the info at orientation.

Before you spend too much money on shots/titers, check with the county for a copy of your immunizations. Obviously this only appliesif you went to high school here. I contacted the school board in this area, got a copy of my vaccines and then went to my primary. The only thing I needed was the Tdap booster.
