Hello,
I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.
Thanks!
She stated the letter had her Pre-req GPA at 3.281...I don't think I'm going to bother to apply to HCC for Spring...this was my second time applying since the first time I took the wrong math pre-req. I think I'm going to go ahead and pursue Keiser instead. Maybe after this confusion settles a bit I'll change my mind but it's just mind-boggling...Good Luck in the program! And thanks for your kind words
Well I got in! I was in tears when I got it. I have no idea what my pre-req GPA is, but I only had one B for them, if that helps any alts figure out why they were alt. /: Congrats to everyone who got in and I hope to see a lot of the alternates get in too! :) See you guys at orientation!

Does the letter say why you were denied? There may be a mistake that you could challenge.
Received an alternate letter on Saturday. Really dissapointed, but at least I still have some hope. I tried getting ahold of someone from the nursing department on the phone and it went straight to voicemail. Does anyone know if it's possible to see where we stand on the alternate list? Or how long it could take if we were to get a seat? I'm not exactly sure of the latest date I'll be able to commit to the college in order to get financial aid money if I end up going there either. I'm exploring my options and looking at other universities and majors right now and the deadlines are coming up if I'm going to be attending their university. Looks like I'm in a bind!
You can make your FAFSA available to muliple schools. Federal Aid doesn't get officially processed until you register for classes, so muliple schools can offer you award packages. It seems like in previous years alternates were notified by orientation, which is end of June. Hope that helps!Received an alternate letter on Saturday. Bethany, there is absolutely nothing wrong with calling or emailing to get your answer. The worst thing you can do is just do nothing. At least get a reason behind it. Having said that, my daughter is finishing her first semester at Keiser, Lakeland (RN program) now. I can say she has excelled with their program and was much more focused then she was at the community college, perhaps she just matured a bit or maybe the program is set up where it holds her focus more. I am not sure and frankly I dont care as long as she is getting the education she needs. I love watching her come home and actually study! Its not easy by now means but its an option. Just remember, there are always different paths that can taken to reach your goal.
Ok, so I received my letter and I am an alternate.
I am very disappointed because I have all As expect in 1 class (my GPA is 3.8). It seems that I was penalized because I passed ENC 1101 with an "A" on my third attempt (It's a long story why I had to withdraw from this class). Anyways, according to HCC they deducted two points from my GPA so now I have a 3.6 instead of a 3.8 GPA. I asked if they could accept my ENC 1102 instead, but they won't.
Its horrible having to wait this long just to find out I have more waiting ahead of me, but I guess I am not the only one.
