Hillsborough Community College RN program fall 2013

Published

Hello,

I plan to attend to HCC's 2013 fall evening nursing program (applying in Jan). I am curious to see what people people's GPA is going in. I hear spring's is lower than fall's.

Thanks!

Ok, so I received my letter and I am an alternate.

I am very disappointed because I have all As expect in 1 class (my GPA is 3.8). It seems that I was penalized because I passed ENC 1101 with an “A” on my third attempt (It’s a long story why I had to withdraw from this class). Anyways, according to HCC they deducted two points from my GPA so now I have a 3.6 instead of a 3.8 GPA. I asked if they could accept my ENC 1102 instead, but they won’t.

Its horrible having to wait this long just to find out I have more waiting ahead of me, but I guess I am not the only one.

Based on previous years' alternate GPA's, you will probably make it in. I think 3.5 and up made it in last year. Chin Up!!! I think you still have a great chance!

The letter just stated that there were a lot of applicants with very competitive Gpas and that I would not be offered a seat at this time... And it stated my pre-req GPA at 3.476. If I were to appeal then I would have to show proof to back up my claim.

Still don't get how your friend with 3.2 got an alternate letter. Did you ask them about that? Not that I don't want the 3.2 to get in...just confusing.

@Mila2013 Last year all the alternates got in, according to the last fall class. They said someone got thier letter the day before orientation but I believe most of them got accepted mid/end of May. I am an alternate to so I understand your anticipation. I have a feeling we will all be just fine : )

Hello Guys,

I know this is probably a repeated question, but does anyone know what immunizations HCC requires for the nursing program?

I got this list from a previous post on this thread...I believe they got the list from HCC. This is a quote from that post:

"DTAP, MMR, Hep A&B (I got a combo shot). Need Varicella titer and TB test."

:)

You are the best !! Thank you!!

Went to PC campus to drop off my aid verification and get set up for online orientation; went to Ybor campus to get fingerprinted; and then went to DM campus to drop off my acceptance letter. I think I'm ready!

So you have to complete that stuff before orientation or before classes start?

Acceptance letter is due by next Wed. and fingerprinting is due before orientation. The other stuff I need to have done before I can register for classes or get my fin-aid processed.

Oh ok, Thanks, maybe I'll start knocking some stuff out to even though I'm an alternate so I won't be in such a panic if I do get in.

The financial aid department will be flooded with people once registration opens, so that is certainly one area you want taken care of. If you are an HCC student already you won't need to do the HCC orientation. I'm a transfer so I have to, but they sent me a link so I can do it online. Transfers must go in person and meet with an advisor to get the link emailed. I'd wait to do the fingerprinting/background as it is $50 and can be taken care of quickly. I think once campus assignments go out in a couple of weeks, more people will decline and alternates will get in.
