Hillsborough Community College Fall 2017

Published

Is anyone else planning on applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program? I know it is really early, but I am just too excited. I want other people to share my excitement with!! :)

Good luck and I hope you make it in! I have heard that the Fall term will usually accept GPAs a bit lower, so I would keep trying before going to a for-profit school. I work at a for-profit college, and it really is not something you want to do. It is a major rip-off.

Its so weird I always thought fall was harder to get into

Per an advisor the lowest accepted GPA for Fall 2015 was 3.286... they didn't have 2016 Fall info when I went but I assume it'd be similar.

Yeah I had emailed the health science admissions office asking about GPAs but they really never reply to emails . smh

I know what you mean about them not responding... I'm a bit annoyed about it to be honest. But then again... they probably have a lot going on so I can't be mad.

I'm going to try and call the director or just see if I can find an advisor who can help me out.

The website has a list of faculty members (instructors included), but I'm not sure if it'd be appropriate to ask any of them questions.

How do you guys calculate your gpa?

I am so glad you said it. I had one person suggest one program that was a for-profit school. Turns out her husband (who is military) got an assignment to NC. They don't have that school there and it's very likely she will have to retake alll of her pre reqs all over again because the only school she can apply to doesn't accept them. Will never do for profit..I would rather take the lpn to rn route. Many of us know what happened with itt

Well the school I mentioned which is Erwin tech is for the lpn program guys not rn . it's the only school with accredited LPN program I would never go to a tech school for rn

The GPA is calculated with just the prerequisite GPA:

BSC 2085 Human Anatomy and Physiology I, 3 cr.

BSC 2085L Human Anatomy and Physiology I Laboratory, 1 cr.

BSC 2086 Human Anatomy and Physiology II, 3 cr.

BSC 2086L Human Anatomy and Physiology II Laboratory, 1 cr.

ENC 1101 English Composition I, 3 cr.

MAC 1105 College Algebra or higher mathematics, 3 cr.

MCB 2000 Microbiology and Human Disease, 3 cr.

MCB 2000L Microbiology and Human Disease Laboratory, 1 cr.

SYG 2000 Introduction to Sociology, 3 cr

Hi Ashley, clinical assignments recently changed and no preference is considered, nor proximity. They try to divide people between all the spots available per semester. Some hospitals thought, do not have a pediatric unit, pretty much everyone goes to tampa for that, in NP3. I'm in NP4 Plant City and I've been to South Florida Baptist, Lakeland Regional, St. Josephs Behavioral Center & Florida Hospital Tampa. Some others have been to Tampa Gen and other hospitals, still in Plant City. So, it's pretty much luck of the draw. Good luck in your nursing career.

Bellalinda I am not 100% sure, just read it in previous posts. Some said that an advisor told them Fall is easier. I would ask an advisor. Apparently this spring they had way more applicants than anticipated

Well there is for profit and not not for profit. That only has to do with pricing. But whether it is Nationally accredited and Regionally accredited, that is what determines how the credits will transfer. There are many for profits that are nationally accredited (which is bad) and then some that are regionally accredited, which means they use the same accreditation as Community Colleges and Universities. If you go to a for profit, you want to ALWAYS make sure they are REGIONALLY ACCREDITED. That is what you want í ½í¸Š But it's still too expensive for me! I'll stick to community college lol the plus side for for-profits is that they will often accept you in easier and also a lot of them have more start dates so you don't always have to wait so long, like us í ½í¸©
