Is anyone else planning on applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program? I know it is really early, but I am just too excited. I want other people to share my excitement with!! :)
Plant City is mornings to early afternoon mostly. NP4 is 9 to 1pm, but times change per semester. They do have a night class that runs from 5 to 9pm as well.
HeySo, I haven't received a response to my email yet...
If anyone finds out if Plant City or Southshore are definitely in mornings or afternoons please let me know. I'm hoping for mornings.
Also, have any of you found an advisor that can answer nursing questions? I'm tired of getting directed to someone else and just need some questions answered asap.
Thanks :)
What is your question? Yes, they probably are busy around this time, as they are probably dealing with preceptorship placements, graduation and pinnings.
I know what you mean about them not responding... I'm a bit annoyed about it to be honest. But then again... they probably have a lot going on so I can't be mad.I'm going to try and call the director or just see if I can find an advisor who can help me out.
The website has a list of faculty members (instructors included), but I'm not sure if it'd be appropriate to ask any of them questions.
I'm going to make an effort to put my application in the mail. A anyone know what the $$ is for? Is that for a background check?
From what I have gathered, the initial money is just the application processing fee. There is a separate background check fee we will have to pay once we are approved. They do the background check after the approvals. I assume the application fee is to avoid an overload of applications from people who are not serious about coming to HCC for nursing.
Hi there everyone! Brandon HCC student here and I'm applying for a lot of different schools for the Fall. I'm hoping that I can make the cut for a BSN program at USF, UCF, or UF. I was recently denied entry into the first cycle of applicants at USF so I'm a little bit upset, but I'm hoping to be considered in the second cycle as I think I'll do really well during the interview.
I actually started at USF as a business major but changed my mind after a year. Business majors are boring and I need excitement in my life. I really loved the instruction that I've received at HCC. One of my favorite professors (and I know you can't name anyone here), but you might know him as the man who changed positions from an architect who studied at Yale(Harvard?) and became a teacher. Awesome guy, and if he sees this, I want him to know he's been such a huge inspiration in this process.
My calculated GPA at HCC is a 3.7 and my cumulative for university with pluses and minuses is roughly 3.625. So it's a little bit lower. However, my prerequisite GPA is a 4.0 and I scored an 88% on the new ATI TEAS IV test. I think it's good enough for a BSN program, however if things don't work out, I would absolutely be satisfied with attending the Dale Mabry campus. The competition for the BSN programs are so extreme and this process has been anxiety-laden and daunting. Sounds like there are a lot of competitive applicants here and I wish you all good luck.
Most people that come in during the fall have the option of doing the BSN concurrent program at USF. You get to take a few bsn classes with USF while on the nursing program. And automatic acceptance with your cohort into USF after the nursing program. This translates into cheaper Nursing program but still getting BSN from USF. USF has to be paid out of pocket, even if you qualify for financial aid though, but it's still worth. I took advantage of the opportunity. Good luck on your nursing career.

Well there is for profit and not not for profit. That only has to do with pricing. But whether it is Nationally accredited and Regionally accredited, that is what determines how the credits will transfer. There are many for profits that are nationally accredited (which is bad) and then some that are regionally accredited, which means they use the same accreditation as Community Colleges and Universities. If you go to a for profit, you want to ALWAYS make sure they are REGIONALLY ACCREDITED. That is what you want 😊 But it's still too expensive for me! I'll stick to community college lol the plus side for for-profits is that they will often accept you in easier and also a lot of them have more start dates so you don't always have to wait so long, like us 😩
