Hello everyone,

So my dream since I can remember has been to become a nurse; however, it seems as if it will never happen. I recently finished my pre-requisite courses to apply to the fall semester of the HCC nursing program. While I did not get any C's I made mostly B's :blink:earning A's in two classes and one lab. I realize this is not good enough since it puts my GPA at around a 3.38. Since I did not fail any of my classes, I don't believe I will be able to retake them. Is there any possible way to retake them? Or any way to increase my GPA since they mainly look at the pre-requisite courses? If not, what other options do I have for becoming a nurse? If anyone is out there who could offer any help it would be greatly appreciated. I will submit my application regardless but I don't have any high hopes of getting accepted, if there is anyway to increase my chances I would be so grateful to find out!

Hi P90X3, Can we pick a color of our choice for the stethoscope or should it be black? I would like a green just so it sticks out in my book bag.

Perfect I already have a few stethoscopes. Yes! I love allheart.com....that is where I use to get all my uniforms from! One of my Stethoscopes is a Littmann Lightweight so I'm sure that will be fine. I was just reading in the Spring 2014 forum. How are you doing in NP1?

My class just finished NP1 on Monday and we're now enjoying a much needed break. NP1 (Nursing Fundamentals) is not an easy class, especially if you dont have a medical background. Nursing school is just different from any other class you've taken in the past and it requires FULL TIME dedication if you want to do well. If you plan on working during nursing school it will be very challenging, it can be done, (Im doing it) but it will NOT be easy. Your instructor will have a lot to do with it too. My class had a new instructor so we went through some growing pains throughout the semester that made it very tough on many of my classmates (me included). But we all survived and are now looking forward to NP2 and a fresh start in the Fall so thats a good thing. Enjoy your summer break because once you start there will be very little free time for anything else. Good Luck....:up:

I have to take 3 more classes in the Summer so I am enjoying this little two weeks that I have. Thank God I picked all online just in case I decide to go on a quick vacation before I need to really focus. I do have medical background that will hopefully allow me to transition smoothly. I don't work but I am a mother so that is a job all by itself. I am so looking forward to starting. Thank you for all of your quick responses. Please continue to keep us all updated as you go through your journey! You are suppose to upload something for us too or was that someone else I'm thinking about?

What is needed for our clinical supplies? I saw someone say they were $300. Is it a kit we have to purchase or is it individual supplies?

Where didnu guys get the immunizations form from? Would we get this at orientation? Im from the spring board and most of us already dropped off our apps, and are playing the waiting game now. Please allow me to intake any information to share with my future class nurses. Thank you :)

I had the immunization form sent to me from someone in NP1, but I am going to wait until orientation when they hand them out. Only because just in case something gets updated. I can email it to you if you want to take a look at it? Our orientation will be July 1st and 2nd I believe so we will get it then. Orientation is 7:30 to 4:30 on both days. You will also need a CPR certification. I have scheduled mine for June 9 to get a head start. I saw that many of the previous student got theirs a few months in advance. I don't really have anymore info. My sister just passed her NCLEX in Jersey and told me to join Kaplan and NCLEX pages whether on Facebook or through a phone application so I did both. I noticed on FB there have like a trivia question every day of a scenario and you have to choose the correct answer. That can help you out and I believe they have some sample tests you can take. She also told me to freshen up on normal lab values. I hope this gives you a little insight.

Great! Thank you awesome I got the email, please let me know after your orientation any updated info needed. Wow so its an all day event wow! Thats a long time to sit down and just hear talking... interesting... ill sign up for a cpr class via st Joseph hospital. They offer it for free. :) you were very helpful thank you
