Hello everyone,

So my dream since I can remember has been to become a nurse; however, it seems as if it will never happen. I recently finished my pre-requisite courses to apply to the fall semester of the HCC nursing program. While I did not get any C's I made mostly B's :blink:earning A's in two classes and one lab. I realize this is not good enough since it puts my GPA at around a 3.38. Since I did not fail any of my classes, I don't believe I will be able to retake them. Is there any possible way to retake them? Or any way to increase my GPA since they mainly look at the pre-requisite courses? If not, what other options do I have for becoming a nurse? If anyone is out there who could offer any help it would be greatly appreciated. I will submit my application regardless but I don't have any high hopes of getting accepted, if there is anyway to increase my chances I would be so grateful to find out!

Sup everyone! Been following the thread now for quite sometime. Most of the time it's been more stressful than helpful for me seeing everyone get in while I was put on alternate lol. Needless to say, I got in! Look forward to meeting all of you!

Just wondering if any other alternates have gotten their acceptance forms checks processed yet? I turned mine in on the same day I did my background check on 05/06(about a week and a half ago)and saw the background check fee go through but no update on the app fee. Thought i'd consult you guys before calling lol. Any ideas? Suggestions?

I appreciate that, silvach. GPA was a little confusing due to my math prereq. Went from college algebra through calc 2 so I'm not too sure which one they took. Would have been anywhere from 3.67 to 3.72, I believe.

Nice GPA either way... very good.. so happy for u. Im attending hcc January program. Then ill be transferring. I am working on my prerequisites for usf now. Ill be done in fall with usf prerequisites. Then in the summer ima finish my AA degree

Congratulations edwinagabin. what do you mean by app fee? if you mean $38 check , that's for the drug test which we will have at the orientation.

yup. Exactly that. Re-read the acceptance letter after you posted. It said to turn in 3 things upon initial acceptance: seat acceptance form, informed consent form, and $38 check towards a drug test. If I'm understanding correctly, that $38 check will not be cashed until orientation?

Question, if anybody can help me out. Would you go get your physical done before the orientation? I will go get some immunization shots sometime this week...and I was thinking to get a physical as well. I have to move from a different state and tried to get things done as much as I can. Thanks in advance :)

Hi, im not on this class but im in spring of 2015 class. I would do what ever it is that can do now if u have the form and info u need. Do u have the physical form already?

I think the forms are pretty similar if they even change at all. I know the applicatio to the program changed and when I compared itnto the old one, the difference was very minimal. It was like initializing the check list, a teas test required, but the other stuff like the disclaimer and the background check was worded the same.
