Hello everyone,

So my dream since I can remember has been to become a nurse; however, it seems as if it will never happen. I recently finished my pre-requisite courses to apply to the fall semester of the HCC nursing program. While I did not get any C's I made mostly B's :blink:earning A's in two classes and one lab. I realize this is not good enough since it puts my GPA at around a 3.38. Since I did not fail any of my classes, I don't believe I will be able to retake them. Is there any possible way to retake them? Or any way to increase my GPA since they mainly look at the pre-requisite courses? If not, what other options do I have for becoming a nurse? If anyone is out there who could offer any help it would be greatly appreciated. I will submit my application regardless but I don't have any high hopes of getting accepted, if there is anyway to increase my chances I would be so grateful to find out!

I just checked my mail and I got Dale Mabry mornings!!!! (That was my first choice!!!) I'm so excited!!! Can't wait to meet you guys at orientation!!!!

What was ur GPA if u dont mind me asking? Since u got first choice. I know fall cut off is higher. But im curious. Congrats to u all!

I was actually wondering the same thing. I know I was told the fall average GPA was 3.766. I have a 3.67 and I ended up being an alternate. There was a girl in one of my online classes with the same GPA as me and she got right into the program with a lower Overall GPA because that's what they look at for ties. I spoke to her and she got her first choice too! I'm wondering since I was an alternate do I actually end up taking the first slot of the person that denied their seat. Either way I'm happy I'm in but because I know how I am that's going to bother me until I get an answer haha

I received my letter and I will be attending PC nights and weekends, which was a shock. I believe it was my 2nd choice. It will work out for me so I see it as a blessing. I was an alternate.

CONGRATS Anne2Michelli, i guess we are going to be in the same class. i was an alternate with 3.57 GPA and i'll be attending PC nights/weekends,too.it was my 3rd choice.

Great! I went back to my paper from the Admissions dept and it said that the students with the highest prerequisite GPAs, who are accepted, automatically receive their first campus choice, if possible. K-marie365 your GPA exceeded the average so you were good to go! :up:

I got DM morning, my first choice. Wow, I'm very excited!! My GPA is 3.83.
