Hillsborough Community College-Fall 2014

Hello everyone,

So my dream since I can remember has been to become a nurse; however, it seems as if it will never happen. I recently finished my pre-requisite courses to apply to the fall semester of the HCC nursing program. While I did not get any C's I made mostly B's :blink:earning A's in two classes and one lab. I realize this is not good enough since it puts my GPA at around a 3.38. Since I did not fail any of my classes, I don't believe I will be able to retake them. Is there any possible way to retake them? Or any way to increase my GPA since they mainly look at the pre-requisite courses? If not, what other options do I have for becoming a nurse? If anyone is out there who could offer any help it would be greatly appreciated. I will submit my application regardless but I don't have any high hopes of getting accepted, if there is anyway to increase my chances I would be so grateful to find out!

knowing MY luck, I will get an alternate seat and find out the day before orientation....Since I have THAT kind of luck...lol

ugh, made the mistake of checking into who got in Fall 2013. Now I feel super depressed with my measely 3.47. I mean I got all A's and B's... but it doesn't seem like its going to be enough. And I didn't apply elsewhere. :(

That was last fall...we don't know what the grades were this fall... It could be many ppl making A's and B's..don't be down...let's just wait and see. :up:

If I remember correctly there was someone with a 3.4~5 GPA who got accepted as an alternate.

Hi there! NP student here. I saw your post and just wanted to tell you that I have a few classmates that got in as alternates with your GPA and they are doing great! Nursing school is VERY hard and no one should take that lightly,however many alternates do get in and they do well. So chin up,and I hope you get your letter soon.

@Izzy1234 Don't be discouraged so soon, I feel the exact same way with my GPA, the only thing we can do is wait and just hope for the best :) I wish you the best of luck, hopefully this tedious wait will be over soon :)

I was a waitlist for Fall 2013 with a 3.52. So don't fret, you have a shot as an alternate, not to worry.
