Hillsborough Community College Fall 2011

Published

Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.

I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?

What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?

Besides GC2CRNA and myself. Who else in going to be in the night and weekend program at Plant City campus?

So far I know that Morpheus111 and Britsands will be there with us. I hope I'm not missing anyone.

Yes I will be there! I am glad that you guys will be there too!

Hi everyone!! getting close!! I was just wondering if any of you have noticed differences in your profile. Mine still shows applicant, and I am wondering when it will change to accepted.

Also does anyone know when we become registered for the actual courses. I am beginning my yearly struggle with financial aid and have to perform a degree audit, but am not able to do that until it shows me registered for the fall.

We can't register until after orientation.

Hey Kikilynn, nothing has changed on my progress toward degree.

How excited are you guys?? What do we need to bring to the orientation? Obviously paper and something to write with.... I just did all of my vaccinations and blood work for MTI's application, so hopefully it will be good enough for HCC.

What about scrubs? What color are we going to need to buy? Will we need to pay for anything at orientation? Just wondering how much I need to save from my upcoming paycheck.

My boyfriend gave me a Littmanns Cardiology stethoscope for my birthday. He said it's the same one that he uses and that I will be able to hear the heartbeat of the person next door when using it. :)

Specializes in Pediatrics, PICU, Mother Baby.

I am going through the same thing!!! I was told many of the nursing students go through this because by the time we are ready for the program we have accumulated so many credits.....sounds crazy.....I went through it last year as well. However, this semester I'm being told that I can't resolve it until I'm registered for classes and that won't be until orientation......ughhhh I hate this process, I like to have things done way ahead of time and have all my "ducks in a row".:uhoh3:

Hey and congrats to all of you accepted to HCC for Fall 2011. If your going to be at Dale Mabry then your invited to our SNA (Student Nurse Association) meeting. Monday June 6th at 4pm in DTEC 301.

I know that the financial aid office is way behind as are the people that update our profiles. They do not even know how much it will cost per credit yet, as I was told this past Wednesday it is increasing. I know we were told not to register until orientation and we will not be accepted until we pass our drug screening and background checks. No idea when that will happen but my guess is after orientation.

kikilynn,

when I went to Fin Aid they told me not to worry. I filed the appeal but they said that since I had an accumulation of transfer credits pushing me over to the 150% limit I'd be fine and didn't even have to worry about it. I spoke to 2 advisors the same day. I was told that once award letters go out i'd be set... I went to Fin Aid then got a degree audit and went BACK to Fin Aid again and they told me its fine... I hope I don't hear a new tune! I already have an AA anyway

I hope you are right!! So you were able to do a degree audit before being registered for fall classes?

Yea. I did a degree audit and he attached the nursing school curriculum because I have EVERYTHING done already. I don't have any more General Education courses left to take so I only needed the Nursing school info but I was able to turn that in. They accepted it and said,"Oh... you transferred alot of credits.... Just look for your award letter on HawkNet in July" I was ecstatic! I said, "So.. I don't have to right an essay?" and she replied, "No. You're only on probation because of your transfer credits you're fine. We can't put it through until Late June or Early July but its fine." I'm one of those meticulous people that pays VERY close attention to detail (my hip-hop dancer side i guess) but if there IS a problem HEADS WILL ROLL

well this makes me feel better.. I have so many transfer credits, I already had a bachelors degree. I guess I will go in next week on my day off and do the degree audit, because they told me I couldn't do that until I was registerd for the fall. I am the same way as you, especially with all the problems I have had with financial aid before!
