hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).
who else?! :)
edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.
Me again :)
Does anyone have this top...or know if it's the correct color??

Also, could some of you post which brands/styles of the tops you have so that I can have an idea of which ones I can choose from??
Thanks again!!!
It looks like the correct color, but everyone's monitor color, etc. varies to a certain extent. I have never seen this exact shirt in person, but it looks like it will be fine. I bought the Landau empire waist top (in wine), as posted previously, and it is perfect in color. I chose Koi (Lindsey) cargo pants...can't say enough about the comfort!!!
One (more) thing to think about... you might want to buy your scrub jacket at the same time, in the same brand, so that the colors will match. It is NOT mandatory to buy a scrub jacket, as you can wear a black or white long-sleeved shirt underneath your scrub top, but I just thought I would mention it. IF you buy a scrub jacket it has to be Port Wine or White in color. I bought Port Wine, from Landau, to match my scrub tops. You can NOT wear a street jacket of any kind over your scrub tops, on the hospital floor. And...if you choose to buy a scrub jacket, the HCC patch must be sewn on, just like on your scrub tops. I know that it is so exciting to be ordering scrubs...if you can afford it, buy comfy ones that you feel good about. Those 10- hour days are long and will seem longer if you are not comfortable. I know that I talked to some classes previous to mine, and they regretted not spending a little more to get cute/better quality scrubs right from the start.
nickdost: If the tops aren't the EXACT color, will the nursing instructors NOT allow me to wear it? I am definitely willing to spend a little more money to get better quality/comfortable scrubs. I love the Koi Lindsey pants, and will be getting those! I tried them on today at Uniform City, but they didn't have any in white, in my size. Depending on what you say to the question above, I'll definitely get one of the Landau Empire Waist tops...I love that one too, I just wanted two different styles. lol Thanks again for your help, and the advice on the scrub jacket!
It depends on your instructor and how strict they are about it. No one in our class had an issue. And it really does look fine...but until you see it in person, you can't be sure. My suggestion is to order it and see how you feel when you get it. You can always send it back if you feel the need, right? I SO badly wanted to buy a Koi top (the color was Cognac)...but it was WAY too far off in color AND it had contrast stitching. So, I kept searching until I found the other one (Landau). Have a good night!
Do you have any advice for a lab coat? I am tall (5'10"), and so I need a lab coat with longer sleeves than the typical person. I love the Koi Micheala, and also the Koi Whitney but I can't find the sleeve length anywhere. Also, do they run large like the pants do? I suppose I'll just have to go try them on somewhere....
I know we need a watch with a second hand...does it have to be a wristwatch or can it be a lapel watch like this one http://www.amazon.com/Nurse-Nursing-Medical-Lapel-Military/dp/B002JAO1D6? The lapel watch seems much more convenient (due to having to wash hands/wear gloves)! Plus the numbers are upside down so you can just look down at it and be able to read it!
THanks again!
