Hillsborough Community College Fall 2010

Published

hello! i just joined this lovely and informative site after lurking for a few weeks. i'm planning to apply for the program after this fall semester. (need to finish a&pII and college algebra).

who else?! :)

edit: can someone walk me through the application process? i know it's pretty easy, but i like knowing 100%! i'm not sure if an adviser would help me much. i know you need high school transcripts, an hcc application and a nursing application. then you just gather all the papers (including money?) in like a.... manila envelope and mail away? or can you electronically send your high school transcripts to them? thank you.

Tebyrd...I have been forcing myself to work out almost every day. It is the next best stress relief (next to WINE!!) I have a goal to get my last 5-8 pounds OFF before starting nursing school in August...it is also yet another DISTRACTION from this horrendous process!! HOpe you are well!!

I have pretty much given up on trying to calculate my gpa. I am very proud to say that a 3.55 is fabulous no matter which way you look at it. It's an A-, and that's darn good! I am totally surrendering myself to everything. I think we will all be fine. We all have excellent gpa's and are very committed people.

This wait is would get the best of anyone...

I think we are all going to be very skinny alcoholics when it's all over lol.

I love that vision Nick! Where did you get your flashcards from?

Tebyrd...

I got the flash cards from Barnes & Noble. There is a brand new one right by my house, and I can't stay away from it! I signed up to get all their coupons via e-mail, so that helps. The cards are pretty cool..they are called Pharm Phlash, and the information on the cards is based upon Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses. The set of cards covers 400 of the most prescribed drugs, grouped by biological system. Anyway...they were cheaper and MUCH more appealing than the Davis's drug guide itself.

By the way...I think I told you I bought Potter & Perry's "Fundamentals of Nursing"...it is such a "sleeper" I cannot even force myself to crack it again!! So I guess I'll just focus on the nursing math and the pharmacology for now.

Talk to you soon!

Hey guys .....just wanted to know if anyone can see the credits that they may have taken at another school, that is needed for HCC 's prerequirements posted yet. My docs say that they are complete but it is not reflecting on my progress towards degree. Thanks to all.

Nope still not yet for me. I don't think they will get added there :(

Not for me...and my docs still say "Not Rec'd". I have kind of given up on them changing, at this point. Who knows?

Hang in there everyone...we should be hearing some time next week or the following one... SO EXCITED!!!

Think we'll get our letters that soon Nick????

I certainly hope so!! Based upon past application periods, YES! That's IF 1) They meet when MF says they are going to, and 2) IF they send the letters out right away (like they did last time).

The committee met on Sept. 15th (last time) and acceptance letters were received as early as Sept. 19th (and as late as Sept. 27th). AND...there were people that received a "Rank Your Campus" letter even BEFORE the committee met.

BUT...this is just what happened in the past. Obviously no guarantees. ALSO...keep in mind that the committee took 5 MONTHS to meet last time. The application deadline was April 15th, committee didn't meet until Sept.!! SO...they could have been quick sending letters because they had already made everyone wait so long.

I spent about 4 hours (literally) on the threads for Spring 2010 before I even applied to the program, and I took notes on the dates/etc, in case any of you are wondering...

My wishful thinking says within 2 weeks we will know something.:yeah:

kman, try checking under the transcript link for all your classes and grades. Mine from other schools appear there, but I did send them in a while ago.

I am hoping we'll hear from them in a couple weeks. I know registration for summer and fall is coming up, and I hope I know before then! Oh, and just a thought... On our profiles it says ADN applicant. Do you think this would change from applicant to ADN basic if we're accepted? I am just going crazy and want to know asap!!
