High school senior. Needs advice please

Start volunteering and working as a CNA. When I first started as a CNA I questioned nursing. But it was only for a day or two and I love it now.

Yeah, STOP BEING SCARED!

You'll find yourself standing and facing in to the unknown. Don't greet it with fear, greet it with excitement, knowing opportunity will only be what you make it.

So don't be scared. Work hard the rest of your time in high school and know that yeah, nursing school is hard, but anything worth doing is hard.

I know that delving into the unknown is scary.

College is harder than high school. Prereqs are challenging and nursing classes are even challenging. Nursing is different than other majors. If you have the willpower, you will be successful. It takes a lot of dedication and organization, but if this is your dream... Go for it! Nursing school is challenging, time consuming, but also so rewarding. Best of luck!

You're going to be scared going into this no matter what field you choose to go into. Def take the PP's advice and work as a nursing assistant, even just volunteer in a hospital- I did, and just wanted to keep doing more and more!!

You might want to see if your state has a health sciences college that you can just jump into your courses. I am also a high school senior graduating this year and I was worried, what of I spent all this money on pre req classes and I don't get into the nursing program at the local college. I began researching and there are schools out there where you can immediately start out in the nursing program as a freshman, no strings attached.

The program I have chosen is for 4 years. It is for a BSN and it will prepare you for NCLEX upon graduation.

This. Actually when I first read your post, the very first thought I had was, "anything worth doing is hard and will be scary at first."

See if your mom can set up a couple of nights of shadowing. Go in to ER, surgery, ICU, etc. Make sure you keep your GPA up in all classes. Meet with your guidance counselor, talk to an academic adviser, attend career days on college campuses. See if the College of Nursing has any luncheons or meet-and-greets. Make good studying habits now. Take a look course catalogs for the nursing program. See what classes are required and what they entail. Would you be comfortable taking anatomy and physiology, chemistry, microbiology, biology, statistics, english, psychology, human development, nutrition, pharmacology? It looks like a lot, but remember every class is going to taught to you by great professors who love what they do. When you get to college, your brain is gonna become a sponge; soaking up all the information for you to apply during your career. It's scary at first, but then it starts to become fascinating. Nursing school is difficult, but everyone is different. Some do great in classes, but have a hard time in clinicals or visa versa. One portion of school may suck, while others parts may same easy. Just make sure you do what makes you happy. Everyone is scared before nursing school.

Why not do a direct entry four year BSN?
