Hi, I was a Nursing Student in NYS. I failed 5 days before graduation. I took a practice RN NECLEX and got a 98% probability of passing the NCLEX. The school I was attending will not allow me to return to finish my last 9 weeks.
Your answer may lie in the reason why the school won't let you return to finish your last 9 weeks. Whatever that reason is likely what needs to be fixed. Besides that my only advice would be to see if www.excelsior.edu could be of any help to you. You would have to do their clinical componet and probably several of their classes but would be preferable to letting it all go or having to take the LPN boards and make less money. Best of Luck.
Welcome!
I am sorry to hear of your difficulty. I am goin gto move your post to the New York Nursing forum...maybe some local advice would be helpful. The before mentioned Online/Distance learning is a valid option. We have a forum for that...click the tab at the top of the page entitled "Students"....it will take you there.
My best to you.
OP, I am so sorry of hearing about your ordeal. Excelsior may can help you if you have completed 50% of your RN program. Call them quick if you haven't already. If not, is there ANY way you could re-apply to your school and bypass what you have already done? I don't know what school you went to but is there a way you could transfer THOSE credits to another program?
Will your previous school allow you just to repeat the last semester? Better than starting all over.
Yes, I am curious about this as well. Was this your only failure in the program? (be honest ). When you say you failed 5 days before graduation, does this mean you were doing well the whole time before (obviously you passed the other three semester, but I think you know what I mean). IMO, all of this will play a huge part in what happens next.
The new LPN rules really do stink for people who are in your situation, or those who fail NCLEX. But it is what it is.
PM me if you want to share details.
Yes, I am also wondering if they will allow you to repeat the last semester. I have heard that many are able to do this. Each school may have their own rules regarding this, but most seem to allow a student to repeat a nursing course maybe twice, before they are expulsed from their nursing program all together. I also think that the new NCLEX-PN rule sucks like lemons.

Hi, I was a Nursing Student in NYS. I failed 5 days before graduation. I took a practice RN NECLEX and got a 98% probability of passing the NCLEX. The school I was attending will not allow me to return to finish my last 9 weeks. I was also informed that I was not allowed to take my LPN exam do to NYS regulations. I am finding it difficult to transfer due to not having my LPN. Can anyone help me figure out a way to finish my education without starting all over again? Thank You So Much!
