Are you a specialized nurse with 2-3+ years paid experience?
Since employers have to legally shoulder the costs involved with most work visas and much of the US has an abundance of new grad & non-specialized nurses (US trained with either citizen or perm resident status ) most employers are not inclined to go through the wait, time & expense of hiring an overseas nurse. If you are a citizen if Canada or Mexico you have a chance with the non-immigrant TN visa. But employment based immigrant work visas such as EB3 are under retrogression with a 6-12 year wait (depending on country of birth) processing.
The few success stories I've heard are for US licensed IENs with 3-5 years paid specialty experience who are also certified in the specialty area. Such as OR nurse with a BSN + CNOR, ICU/MICU/NICU/PICU/SICU/TICU/CTICU/CCU experienced nurse with CCRN, trauma or ED nurse with TNCC & CEN.
NAFTA visa for professionals who are citizens of Canada or Mexico (permanent residents are not eligible )
It is a non-immigrant work visa. Minimum for nurses is RN-BSN.

Hello. I just wanna ask if there are still hiring foreign nurses with USRN license ( state of Illinois) , cgfns certificate and a VisaScreen certificate? I'm hoping to find an employer who can sponsor me in working in USA and file me for a priority date so that I can work as nurse if recession is over soon. hope you can give me an advise. Thanks
