I was hoping someone from HFCC could tell me if it's worthwhile to sign up for this supplemental class for Med Surg/Psych. It's scheduled at a really inconvenient time for me, but I'd make it work if I had to.
Thank you

I went to supplemental. The professor that was there was Dombrosky. It might be worth it.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about... maybe this is something offered to main campus students? I'm in 155 now and I take it you are in 120/126? I got through 155 without any prior prepping with an A might I add and a not so great instructor. So if it is not convienient for you don't do it. Focus on the here and now.
In 150 Just know you need to READ READ READ your book. Oh and everything you will have learned in 126... put that away to the side for awhile when you start 150. Don't even worry about the EO's in the module just make sure you read that textbook!
So far 155 has been awesome... print off the powerpoints, come to lecture, and read the chapter for elaboration because everything lectured on, is coming straight from the book.
If I have time I like to read ahead so when it's time for lecture I'm pretty knowledgeable already and anything that may have been unclear during my reading (not often) becomes crystal in lecture. Good luck.

TOTALLY worth it! If you can make it work, try. You will not only get an A, but you will completely understand everything.

If you're short on money, there is also a free tutoring session every Sat from 9-12. There is a info sheet posted on the nursing board. DD is currently teaching 2nd year students and will be back to 155 in Jan., if that's when you're taking it. She's the best so if you can get her for lecture, you're better off.

I have never taken it. I went to 1 or 2 to see how I liked it but I didn't really care for it. Though others swear by it...I guess it just depends if you feel you need it or not. I am terribly impatient and have a hard time sitting through another class ha.
wow! you mean the group at henry ford hospital has already completed nsg 155? are you guys that far ahead? that's amazing that you already completed 120/126 and 155 already. didn't you just start not too long ago? when will you graduate?

Mybrowneyedgirl, sorry I'm actually in 155 right now. We take finals Dec 9 so like 3-4 weeks left. We've been smokin!
Now that I think of it we do have supplemental, they automatically made it apart of our pgm but it is totally optional. I don't know how it's set up on DC but for us, its really just a 1 1/2 hr review of the previously lectured material, our instructor may give us a few handouts with exercises on them and thats that.
You'd be better of getting with your study buddies and going over material that you've covered and asking the instructor to clear up things you don't understand before or after class. On the other hand, I could understand if you felt the need to do it just this once to see for yourself.. Only you will know if it is beneficial for you... one size doesn't fit all.
In supplemental they give handouts and these are beneficial in 2 ways: they help you focus your studying and give extra time for clarification and 2-3 of those exact questions will be on the test. It has been incredibly worthwhile in 221/222 cuz DD really focuses on what will be on the test. And I've done better second year so I attribute it partially to the material presented in supplemental. And word has spread cuz there are MANY ppl who didn't register for it and still go. DD isn't happy about it but she isn't about to kick them out. She is just that awesome; she understands the pressure we are all under and is willing to help anybody. Heck, you can go to her during office hours and she will give you a copy of her lecture notes when you aren't in her section! So if you can't work it into your schedule, go see her and get her notes.

Question:
This class is not considered a college credit, as I found out when I was trying to register on webadvisor. So, does financial aid recgonize it as a legitimate credit?
Not to play down the signifigance of the class or to say I wouldn't benefit from it, but I mainly need one more credit for financial aid reasons.
I also signed up for an online class that seems interesting, and it would save me another trip up to the school. Yet, this class is 3 credits, and would be more work on top of nrsg homework.
Decisions.....deicsions....
Thanks for any input!
Chandra
P.S.
Happy belated turkey day :)

Yeah, I believe it's 1 credit. If you can't find it to register, call the nursing office. When I turned in my class schedule, they automatically registered me.
