Hey. Ok, so for Microbiology we have to build a gram(+) bacteria cell and a gram (-) bacteria cell. I went to Michael's and bought some polymer clay(its soft but you can bake it and it turns hard) in a bunch of different colors to make my layers and I ended up spending like $42:eek: . Anyways, I'm wondering if any of yall have any suggestions on what I could build my cell out of b/c $42 is alot and I kind of want to do something not so expensive. I was thinking styrofome (sp?) but that just soaks up any kind of color, so I dont really wanna do that. Our cell has to include pili, flagella, ribosomes, plasmind, DNA, cell membrane, cell wall, LPS layer for gram(-), and a capsule. Alright well just let me know if you have any good ideas..Thanks so much! Have a wonderful day!!

Try looking up playdough recipes on the internet....google or yahoo, etc.
You can color different amounts of it with different colors, and build your bacteria.
Seems to me food coloring, salt, flour, etc would be less expensive.
Good luck! :)
