I'd like a place 5 hours or less from Ontario. It's for 4 families. I'd like it to have swimming or something fun for the kids.

House/cabins/chalets are great!! Thanks in advance!!

Be more specific...there are lots of beautiful places.

5 hours or less from Ontario. Where are you? That would be more helpful to guide you.

Or visit http://www.canada.com do a search for Ontario and they'll link you to numerous spots...

We rented a houseboat with a roof deck and a swimming slide. Supposed to sleep 12 but that would have been a little tight and a little hard on the bathroom facilities.

Had a galley kitchen and just about anything you'd need except the food and bedding. We had a blast!

Yes...there are plenty of beautiful spots. You have to be a bit more specific...where are you? How far are you from Ontario? What are you interested in doing? Then I could suggest some places, etc...

BARRIE, near enough to Toronto, yet a beautiful small city with lots to do and lots of beautiful scenery all around.

I'm from PA, but my family's been going to a lake in Ontario for years where we have two cottages (that's what they call cabins there). It's in the "Land O' Lakes" tourist region and is located in eastern Ontario.

"A short drive of 2.5 hours from Toronto, 1.5 hours from Ottawa and scant minutes from Kingston will bring you well into the heart of the Land O' Lakes vacation region. Visitors coming from the U.S.A. are usually happy to learn that the region is easily accessible via I-81, plus a 50 minute drive from the Thousands Islands Bridge border crossing. The two main east-west arteries are Highways 401 and 7 (the Trans Canada Highway), and the two primary north-south routes are Highways 38 and 41."

The above is a quote from a Land O' Lakes website that I hope will be of help:

Thanks for the replies.

I'm from the Detroit, MI area.

We like beautiful areas to visit--where there's stuff for kids to do. (swim and etc.)

Here's another site (Sandbanks Provincial Park) I thought looked interesting that we were thinking of visiting this past summer, but didn't get the chance to go:

A good site to rent cottages from all over Ontario, Quebec and some eastern provinces http://www.cottagesunlimited.com my friends and I have been renting through them for years. Book early though! Januaryish!

Sunset Country is gorgeous and tourism is our second major industry. Sunset Country is Northwestern Ontario - just above Minnesota, right next to the Manitoba border. Fishing, hunting, camping, cottages, provinicial parks (there are four or five within an hour of my home town) - we love our outdoors.
