Hey guys, I am new to the community, and I am soon to be a new graduate RN after passing the HESI exit exam. My school only gives two chances to pass the exam, and I was not successful on the first try. Out of the required score of 870, I scored 818. I am scheduled to take it again in July and quite naturally I'm nervous about it. Does anyone have any helpful "HESI HINTS" they can offer? Also my school took version 1 the first time and I'm wondering if anyone knows how it is determined which version we will get next? Please help!!!
Okay, maybe one of you all can help me out. Our school requires us to make a 900 on our exam. I made thus far a 852, a 820 and a 780. The first time I used the hesi book to study from, then I used other materials. Now I am back again with the hesi book and I studied five days a week for about six hours a day. I choose to study med surg and maternity. My weak areas. I think I change my answers often from the right into the wrong. Not sure what is going on with me. I am trying so hard and certainly place alot of time on my studies. I am not overly nervous when I go into the exam and still my scores go down. It is good to hear that Lil was able to improve by so much and I just cross my fingers that next wednesday I can say the same. Does any of you have any more advice in terms of what I should do during testing? I decided to make myself sticky notes reading....do not change your answers lol.

Our school district offered the Evolve review to us, they actually made it mandatory for us to attend in order to sit for HESI. I found it helpful, the instructor was really good at breaking down the information that I thought was pertinent to passing that exam. Our school also gave us the Sylvia Rayfield review which was EXCELLENT. Sylvia Rayfield is the co author of the Nursing Made Insanely Easy books with all the funny caricatures and pneumonics that really stick in your brain. Theirs was the best review I have attended thus far and I may just pay for it myself and take it again before I take my state boards. Good luck to you on your second try. If I can do it you can too. I scored an 818 on my first time also, and as my post says, I scored a 1032 on the second and final try. It is doable (if that's a word. lol). Just stick with the HESI and Saunders books and you will do just fine. And do questions, questions, questions, I'm sure you have heard that one a million times. And you must have confidence. That's one of the most important factors, just knowing that you can do it, and you can. You didn't make it through nursing school on your good looks. I hope.lol.
