HESI EXIT EXAM #4

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I am not sure what to do anymore. I have just taken the hesi exit exam for the 4th time and got an 845 and needed an 850 in order to get my transcripts. We can take it as many times as needed by the end of fall, but my brain is so tired, and not sure I can take much more. We have remediation that we have to do and it is 3000 nclex questions before we retake. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get through this. is there anyone out there that has had to take this as many times as I have? Help someone.

Susanne....

Hello Mia. I send you some Email, if you did not receive it let me know.

HI! Does anyone have the study guide for the HESI exam on their computer that they can email me.. i heard bad things about the study guide and i don't want to spend money on it if it's a waste of time. i just want to take a look at it and see what's going on..

Thanks!

Now I can finally speak and let people know that I passed my Hesi exam last week on the 1st of July.

I feel so blessed, because our teachers came up with a great idea. They told me consistently that they knew I had the knowledge, but that my anxiety plays tricks on my mind. They told us to come in last week for class and we took a fake hesi exam to see how we would do. Two days prior I truly had a nervous breakdown. I studied every waking hour that coupled with hardly no sleep and all my responsibilities that weight on my shoulders, knowing that I might go without a degree and never see the NClex took its toll on me. I broke down and saw a councelor. Two days after that incident I went to class and was hopeful, because our teachers said they wanted to try some things out that might help us.

Here were their instructions:

We take a fake hesi exam.

You will cover up your answers and formulate anwers in your mind when you read the question.

You then pick the closest answer that correlates with what you proposed in your mind and you will not change your answer.

We had to take ten minutes break on each full hour.

The test we took was the hardest of all and we all agreed on that one. I was so glad that it was a fake test and therefore I had no worries, but I took it seriously.

I ended up making a 951 and so did my best friend. We both were stunned that we could even pass 900 let alone on this incredible hard test. The best news still came when they told us that we actually took a real test and that we were now graduates and no longer student nurses.

I am explaining this in detail, because I remember the desperation and the loss of hope, the anxiety and the running around like a horse with its head cut off trying to locate questions and answers.

It was apparently the anxiety that kept me from making a 900 or better and therefore in hindsight thinking of all that I did I approached this entire test wrong.

I told some other students on here that one thing that might help and it might sound rather silly but you should give this a try is to visual imagine yourself every night before you go to sleep every step of the exam and at the end see yourself making a 900 or above.

I think this does work and here is the reason why: I am a runner and I am always the fastest female in my ARMY command. However, when I run and during my run I visualize myself running to through the finish line and in my mind I see the time that I want to accomplish and I always...always made the time that I wanted.

One time, which was the very last time I made my worst time and here is why. I had a hip injury that was healed, but I was just worried that I might re-injure my hip. This time when I was running I did not visualize myself running through the fnish line rather I saw myself walk and give up and that is sort of what I ended up doing. Therefore, the mind is a powerful tool in this hesi test as well.

Further, I did not want to listen to my teacher when she constantly told me to slow down and give my brain a moment to marinade in that knowledge that I aquired. Study, but do not study with the insanity that I did. Make yourself a certain time when you study and a certain time to stop...and then...stop. Whatever you did not cover....Oh well. Play a bit, go to a movie, do something for yourself. Maybe do something spiritual for yourself to regain that hope and have the knowledge that you know this stuff.

Confidence is very important and you have got to believe in yourself. This one I knew I lost by the time I had to go to the fifth exam.

I also would suggest not to hunt down questions from other versions and not to ask others which version was hard or easy. Here is the reason why. First of all, everyone has a different perception of what is easy and hard and if someone tells you version three is hard and that is the version you are testing on...you already go into the test with the mindset that this will be hard.

Another thing, you will not get the same test. I noticed that someone else who just took weeks prior to me version three...had a complete different test than I did. Therefore, I think I wasted my time doing this.

I hope that these words will give those who still need to pass the Hesi test some hope, maybe they can approach the test with a little bit more peace of mind and hopefully they realize that if they are scoring in the 800 they are doing fine and they have the knowledge, they just need to figure out how to calm their minds and ballance their day. I wish all of you great luck and I really want to see you all post a success story.

I pray alot for you all

Congradulations!!!!!!!!! That is going to be me next week!!!!
