Done with the HESI A2! Any questions?!

Nursing Students HESI

Published

I took the HESI A2 exam today and passed all of them with A's and B's. The sections I had to take were Math, Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and a Critical Thinking section. If anyone has ANY questions regarding my experience, please feel free to ask me! I will be thrilled to help anyone out! :)

Thanks for this, haiden! I really appreciate your insight. I'm taking this in about two weeks, but only the math and reading sections because I'm already in. The instructors say it isn't possible to fail it, but if I don't do well I have to go through the nuisance of remediation.

Thanks x factor I found the math.com on this forum I guess ill work on it all today what about the vocab and grammar any helpful sites for them? I did youtube the reducing fractions and felt dumb after lol thanks much guys!

For grammar, study all the words in the book, because I've read that a few will be on the exam. Also check out Quizlet.com and type in HESI A2 Vocab, and there are some flashcards with more vocabulary that people have put up there.

For grammar, everything I've read said it's just hit or miss, you know it or you don't. I would brush up knowing the differences between there, their and they're, as well and your and you're, affect and effect, things like that. Brush up on the proper use of past and present tense.

I take the exam in a few weeks, but have been studying for well over a month and have aced every practice quiz I can get my hands on, so I feel prepared. The HESI Review book by Evolve has been my go-to study guide, as well as practicing problems on Math.com, and using Quizlet.com for the vocab.

btw can we bring a calculator ?

Hey Tiffany congratulations!!!! I know you was stressed beyond belief was the critical hard for you ?

and do you remember any of the vocab. I take my test on the 27 and I have been studying pretty much everyday. I have no time off being I have to study for hesi and then I will see if I get into the Rn program.

I've seen several people say a calculator is provided on the computer, HOWEVER, I've noticed a few students lately saying a calculator was not provided and math had to be done on scratch paper by hand. So my advice (and this is how I am studying) is to learn to work out the math problems by hand without a calculator so you will be prepared if one is not provided. If one ends up being provided for you, then you'll be extra-prepared anyways. Good luck!

The critical thinking was all common sense if you applied what you learned in A&P I and II. It was all about which patient you would assist first out of four or five people with different symptoms.

Don't rush through it. You have plenty of time. The math section took the longest for me. They do give you a calculator on the computer and I was given a small dry erase board also.

As for the vocab...it was all basic A&P vocab. Anterior, posterior, names of bones, common illnesses, major veins, etc. I personally used the HESI study I mentioned before and past flash cards from Medical Terminology. As long as you prepare yourself by touching up on math, and past sciences you will be fine! Good luck! Let me know how you do!

Btw, which nursing schools are you applying to?

hi Im preparing for the exam and I heard that BCC request for us to do biology and chemistry. doyou have any idea how those test is?
