Hesi Entrance Exam

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi, I know this question has been asked a million times but I am trying to get the most info. I can on it! I am taking the Hesi Entrance exam in 2 weeks. So far I've been studying out of book they recommend for it but other than that I am confused on what to go over! Math is pretty straight forward but what about the vocab, grammar and reading comprehension?! Those are the only 4 subjects I'm being tested on. If anyone can give specific things that I should study to do well in those sections I'd really really appreciate it!!!! Thanks everyone! :)

yeah, for the math. make sure you can do division and multiplication by hand. know that one pound is equal to .4536 Kgs. Know how many pints, quarts, and liters are in a gallon. I made sure I knew all of that and I made a 98.

I have also taken the reading comp. It is pretty straight forward also. Just take your time and read everything. It is about like the ACT is on reading comp. They will ask you questions about what the authors overall purpose is, or what a specific word means. I ended up making a 92 on this.

Tmmrw, I will be taking the A and P portion, vocab, and grammar. So, I will let you know about that.

Good luck!!! Definitely let me know how the grammar section goes!!! Thanks for your help so far!

If those are the things you are being tested on, the review book should be all that you will need. I took the test about two weeks ago. The math is almost exactly like what is in the book. The vocabulary is very similiar. There were only a few of the same words, but all the others were very much the same order of difficulty. I don't think it is practical to study to improve your vocabulary for an exam, so there you are. Grammar was very much like the book. Only the science sections were much broader in scope than what is in the book.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info!! When it comes to grammar, is it like sentence structure or just basically know which sentence sounds right? I'm a little confused on what to study in this section. The study guide goes doesn't give the best examples! Thanks again!

Thank you for the info also! I've been doing some research on the HESI and I heard that the practice books were awful in preparing for the exam. So now I feel like I'm going into the exam blind.

Ummm well, both I guess. I'm not trying to be wise. There are questions that ask you to choose the right tense for a verb, and if you are like most people, it will sound the best. Of course there are tricky ones like using nouns that look plural, but are treated as singular. Wish I could think of a good example, but I'm having a senior moment.

If you have the examples and the practice tests down in the book, you are 90% of the way there. Don't try to make it harder than it is.

Don't worry! Hesi is the easiest test you will ever have to take to the nursing programm. Good luck.
