hfcc has waitlist of 12 -18 mos. Has anyone got in the program earlier than a year?

Not that I know of. I waitlisted last June and I'll start this August.

I got on the list December 18, 2006 and started in August 2007. (Got my letter in the last batch of June 2007)

Veruka,
That's exactly what I'm hopeing will happen for me! I got on the waitlist December 17th, 2007 and my fingers are crossed for this August but I'm not counting on it:(. It seems like almost everyone I know has gotten in but they were all on the list before me so I guess I can't complain.

How do you go about getting on the wait list, do you have to start taking classes there? I had contacted someone in the department via email but they were very vague about things.
You cannot get on the waitlist until you have passed the NET test at HFCC. Before you are allowed to take that NET test you must complete a certain amount of prerequisites. Hopefully someone in here can give you more specifics, but I think you must have all of your English and Math and your first Bio and Psy class done to take it.
To take the NET you have to register for it like you would a regular class. www.hfcc.edu might offer more insight.
Good luck
You have to take Eng 131 & 132 for your English pre-reqs; Bio 131 is a pre-req, but you still have to take BIO 233 & 234- which I guess technically aren't pre-reqs because you can take them while in the nursing program, but wouldn't recommend; Math up to CHEM 131; PSY 253; and pharmacology (you can also take this during the program, too).
As soon as I was done taking Chem, I took my NET, passed & got on the list. The following semester I took PSY 253 & PHARM; I took BIO 233 in Summer of last year, and because I got on the waitlist sooner that I thought I ended up taking BIO 234 with the program in the fall. It was do-able, but I lived, breathed and ate HFCC 7 days straight, I swear.
Good luck! Hope this helped!
Thanks for the information. I think I will go out there one day and see what there policy is for transfer credits if any. I have done some of those already but who knows if they will transfer. Thanks again!!
On HFCC's website it does give you transfer info. That might save you a trip. You can select your school, I believe, and see what transfers over.

Have you gotten on the hfcc website and pulled up the Nursing program? Everything you need to know is on there.

I would love to know the percentage of people on the waiting lists actually attend the school. It seems like a lot of people change their mind, go to another school, have a baby, get a better job or just disappear.
if you know any 'better jobs' that are esily attainable in this state right now, do tell, LOL.
Good question - how many names fall off the list? Either way, all the better for the ones who intend to stay!
