I just passed my NCLEX. I went to pay the $7.95 to get my rapid results, and was soooo nervous and shaking so bad, I had a hard time typing in my credit card info. Very nerve-wracking. Anyway, I took a local review course in my area (Cincinnati/Northern KY) by a guy named Mark Klimek. He was very helpful, but what I found to be most helpful was by doing all the questions in the Prioritization, Delegation & Assignment book. About 90% of my questions seemed to be the type that says "You just got report....which patient would you see first..." These drove me nuts, so I'm really glad I did all the practice questions in the Prioritization book. Also, I did about 4,000 practice questions from the NCLEX 3500 and several other books/CD's. So my advice....concentrate on Prioritization, and do lots of practice questions. Good luck to all.
Congratulations!!!Did you have a especial book for "Prioritization/delegation?" It seem to be my weakest area. Thanks for you responds. God Bless...
I've had a lot of problems with prioritization/delegation too. Saunders is way easier than my nursing school tests were in this area though. We didn't understand where our instructors were coming from sometimes with the patient scenarios they created.
If you remember Maslow's hierarchy of needs and the ABCs, it will sometimes help you with prioritization. For instance, if someone has an airway problem, that is going to take priority over infection. Does that help at all?
Are you talking about the prioritization book at Borders? I think it's written by an employee of University Hospital in Cincinnati?
Can you give me the name of the book and author?
What's one more purchase. I heard of that guy - I think people through the AD program of UC often have him as a resource.
Reading these posts makes me ill...every student about to start pre-nursing should read this and turn the other direction. I'm so stressed out that I wish I'd never tried nursing and every time I felt this way, I've trudged through...6 years later and a BSN and the stupid Hesi passed, I have this nclex. Never again will I ever put myself through this hell of worry. I have enough with the rest of my life and just don't need any more!!!! 7 more days until my test.

The first tip actually needs to be completed before you send me a pm. I am unable to do a thing before that is done.
For those who asked the name of the prioritization book here it is:
Prioritization, Delegation & Assignment
Practice Exercises for Medical-Surgical Nursing
By Linda A. LaCharity, Candice K. Kumagai, and Barbara Bartz
Published by Mosby / Elsevier
You can get this book at B&N or Borders, or any big bookstore. If they don't have it in stock, they can order it for you.
