I have recently been accepted to University of Texas-Houston program. ANY advice or info on the UT program would be appreciated!!

I know peeps that go to UT and they say they have no support from the faculty. For instance if you are having trouble in a particular subject you are pretty much on your own unless you get help from a fellow student. Many people fail out or transfer from UT. The good thing about it is that it's in the Texas Med Center so you will see alot of things that you wont see anywhere else in the country.

Mr. Smith,

Seems like you spend a lot of time on this forum stating your opinions when you should be studying for your "hard" classes at twu. What is your real problem with TCU? Trying to perpetuate rumors is something you should avoid. It shows your ignorance. Ex. When is the last time TCU and march madness were even close to each other? Your stats on the test grades are wrong. Shall I go on?

i have a fair grasp on the situation between tcu and twu.

the long and short of it is... twu is hard and tcu in well.... not as hard.

to compare and contrast. i dont think anyone has ever gotten 100% on any a&p test at twu while last test at tcu there where 20 100%'s the two schools are in tough competion for students which makes one of the schools use a less ethical approach in swinging students their way. (rumors) so from my end its all about what you want; easy or hard. tcu has some sort of local prestige within fort worth but outside of this area you only hear about tcu in marchmadness if that. twu has no prestige locally but in anesthesia circles it has a great rep. tcu has a beautiful campus. twu does not. twu has a brand new building with state of the art multimedia including wyfi. and the msa degree is no nonsense. tcu has its old nursing school facility with pleanty of nursing nonsense.

matt, your grasp of the situation is far less than fair. forming opinions on rumors can be a dangerous game. i am a tcu rrna student and know for a fact that the anatomy test scores were less favorable than your rumor scores (please talk with your informant). also matt, please understand tcu is not easy by any means. if it is easy then someone surely forgot to tell me. aynyway, nothing in life worth having should come easy. i do not have a basis to compare the academic rigors of the two different schools since i have never attended another school of nurse anesthesia. so, i shall refrain from stating any rumors about your school to ensure that i do not spread false facts. however, anyone having the privelage of receiving an acceptance letter to both tcu/twu can be assured a well rounded and solid education.

I think we have done this before, and if I am not mistaken it was regarding the same two schools.

This forum exists so that others can obtain information that was hard to get before. When I started looking at schools this board was a ghost town, with maybe four posts. I have made an effort since then to come onto this board and offer help that was not available to me. (Had to change my name a few times, as the program would dump me and I would forget my password, but I have been here since the beginning.)

The more people that come to the board, apply/attend/graduate/and work, the better the information for all of us. While the opinions of alansmith may not have been appreciated by TCU students they were just that....his/her opinions. Anyone reading these posts knows that he was very clear, in that these were rumors.

In the end we all have to pass boards and practice safely, all of the schools work toward that end. For the most part differences in content/didactics are going to negligible, as we all need the same information.

Keep the personal attacks off the board, that is not what it is for. If someone has something negative to say about a program and you don't agree. Then dispute the post regarding the program don't go on a personal attack. In the end important information could be lost because someone is flamed off the board.

Just my two cents.

Sharing an opinion about work/schoolwork or information that is pertinant is one thing, but constantly bashing my school where people are attending, spending their money, and putting forth a lot of effort is another thing. Those opinions are what kindled this situation.

I am in agreement with smiling ru. I happen to be in the same program as alansmith, unfortunately I do not necessarily feel the same way about TCU. However, those at tcu would be ignorant to say there is not some tension between the two schools but that is not the issue. If attacks against a person are going to be made, do it as a private message, don't show your stupidity as well and stoop to that level

Why the tension b/w the schools? There are 5 CRNA schools in Philly and several of the schools even share some classes in the first 2 semesters. I have seen a lot of mutual respect (As it should be!) b/w students from the different programs. Everyone is proud of their own program, but there is no need for bashing. It sounds very immature to be bashing each other and each others programs. We are all SRNAs and will be CRNAs, no matter where you go to school. CRNAs are a united group and have political and professional clout because of it. Please don't take away from the profession by getting involved in these petty disputes.

I go to TWU and don't really see any tension. In fact, a group of us from TWU often gather socialy with a group from TCU.

Hmmmm, Quite a thread

I guess I am remiss for not reading it sooner. Smiling_ru has said what I would say, in my moderator capacity. It is fine to discuss the merits of a program, it is not fine to personally attack another forum member.

I also think that people should weigh what they say, and think about how it may affect thier future interactions with others in the CRNA community. Many times I have been told, that CRNAs are a tight group, and it is best to not burn your bridges in the community. Alan, you never know, the killer job you want, may be guarded by a person from your nemesis program some day. I guess what I am trying to say, is be careful what you say. It may com back and bite you in the a$$ some day.
