Help, unable to comply with IPN

Published

I made a huge mistake, and diverted after injuring my back. When I was confronted, I owned up to everything, and referred to IPN. It took a month for the evaluator to send in her report, and I got the worst case scenario. 28 day minimum with residential requirement. I can't leave my family for that long.  My wife would have to quit her job to watch our daughter, and can't drive. I explained that to the evaluator, but that's what she recommended anyways.

I'm at a loss. I know it's going to go to the board, and they'll just refer me right back to IPN. Will I at least get a clean slate and another eval? Or am I stuck with worst case? I  really want to do the right thing, and I love caring for people as a nurse.  Is this the end? Has anyone else been down this road that can offer advice?

I know you said it's impossible, but basically you have two choices: Do it, or find another career. And please don't write it off as "impossible" until you and your wife have really sat down and brainstormed. She doesn't drive— there's Uber. She'd have to quit her job— maybe so. Caring for your child— are there any alternatives (yes daycares are expensive but we are talking about one month, not two years). Really, really, think it through before you just say you can't do it. (I say this as someone whose entire support network is my husband; we have a child and zero family. So I really do understand.)

Can you get a home equity loan so your wife can still work, get a sitter, ask family, a couple weeks is not that long,  also let your wife become more independent with learning to drive? Frankly, when you were not home and there was an urgent need to get your daughter somewhere what happened.?

When teaching nursing school, since now a days so many students have children, we always tell the students to round up at least 2 child care options.  It prepares the nursing students for when they are RNs and can't call in with every child sniffle. I realize this is NOT your case as you have no job  with a spouse who is totally dependent on you. Who takes care of your child now? With a bad back how did you manage>
Wishing you the best but this is a come to "being an adult" situation where you have to juggle all the balls in the air. Once again wishing you the best!!
