Help!This just isn't fair.

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all the nursing school i applied too has cancelled the programme for two consecutive years and may do so again this year which means i'll have to re-apply next year.First i couldn't get in because i didn't have all my pre-reqs ,now i have them there're cancelling?Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. When will i ever get my turn to be a nurse. The thing is that's the only school which does the course here. The say is a teacher shortage not enough to go around as they are looking to recruit 120 students to 3 teachers this year.Don't know what to do, this really sucks.

Specializes in Critical Care, Surgical ICU.

Is there anywhere else you can apply?? That sucks, I am sorry this is happening to you.

My motto: If there's a problem, there's a solution. With some effort searching, a solution will present itself. If you want to be a nurse bad enough, then you may have to apply to other programs, and you may have to move. Sometimes that in itself opens a whole new world of problems, but there are always solutions. You just have to be willing to make an effort; make it happen. Good luck!!!

The OP is in Barbados. While it's a beautiful island (with amazing diving!)...it's not a big island. I'm guessing that the number of nursing school's on island are very limited.

Tigress, do you have any family that live off island? Maybe you could look into programs there? Will Barbados accept education from other places?

It is a raw deal, I'm sorry....I can only imagine how frustrated you must be.

Peace,

Cathie

Tigress...that stinks! I will keep my fingers crossed and pray that they do not cancel the program again this year. Don't give up hope just yet and in the meantime look into any other options which may be available to you.

Thanks for your replies.Yes barbados is a very small island 366 square miles. There is only one school here so applying elsewhere isn't possible. And the only family i have off island are in st.Lucia and Guyana and our accreditation is higher than theirs so their programmes mean nothing here,Will just have to pray and hope they find some teachers sooooooooooooon.

If the school accepts teachers with American credentials, it would be a great opportunity for someone to work and live in an amazingly beautiful place in the world.

I used to work on a cruise ship (sorry, I hated that your lovely island was invaded by, sometimes very rude, americans....I didn't like some of them either, but at least I didn't have to interact with them as much, I took care of the computers on the ship) and we would visit Barbados once a week. I confess that I believe I spent more time under the water surrounding the island than I did on the island itself:smiletea2: My favorite dive spot is there, it's a wreck called the Stavronakita...amazing dive.

I wish your school luck in finding enough qualified instructors and you patience as they look.

Peace,

Cathie

I would pick another school. If they have cancelled the program 3 years in a row, there is something seriously wrong.

I'm confused. In another thread called, "Teacher vs. Student," you said that you were already in Home Nursing class and had been given a 13 page assignment.

Are you in nursing school or not?

Oh my!!! Bad Business. See if you can apply somewhere else. I had to move out of state to get a another chance. You may have to do that. Good Luck!!
