lm*o! um, yeah... yes, in college, one actually must study and usually must not only read copious quantities but study, the textbook. you may also be expected to memorize, attend class, participate in class, not surf the 'net on your portable or notebook in class, ask well-thought-out questions, show respect for the prof, pass tests, work in teams with other students, do your own intensive research at times, enjoy doing all of this and want to do more of it, and then, at least eventually, actually apply what they've taught you and show that you can use it and also find innovative solutions in real life. :jester:

college is college, and it is more difficult than high school., intentionally, by design. and much of it, honestly, will be you teaching yourself. if you never had to study in hs, you are in for some serious re-gearing of yourself now. man or woman up and get to it, sooner rather than later. low gpas are forever, and catching up is hard to do.

you are not alone in finding out that college is more work that hs and more than you expected. just do the work. "by the inch it's a cinch; bu the yard, it's hard." that's how it works. get on it, and stay on it, and if you don't understand something, keep going over and over it until it does click. profs and tutors don't like students who don't try. in college, lots of it is "teach yourself." the prof hits the high points and answers questions and fills in gaps. a&p i & ii are very much that way, so don't expect to get much out of the lecture. read ahead on those, so that the lecture is reinforcing what you already read and taught yourself. a&p are the most time-intensive and tedious college courses i have ever taken, and i have a lot on my transcripts.

You might not have to read it cover to cover. Often, but not always, the first and last sentence of a paragraph are the meat. To be a fluent and efficient reader, you have to read much. If you are mostly TV and computer, and didn't do much reading, then you'll have to just grit your teeth and do it.

haha i will in 4 days after wensday you wont see me here for a long time

what happens then are you not already taking classes you made it sound as if you were , i wish I had all the free time you have taking pre reqs:)

In 4 days ill be studying for 36 hours a week and wont be annoying you guys anymore. I have free time but i bet you have better work ethic. Free time doesnt mean anything if you cant do anything with it.

Ask away, Jon, your questions are relevent. Those who are annoyed can exercise their right to not click on what annoys them.

Thank You saysfaa

No problem.

Hey, the way you said this "In 4 days i'll be studying for 36 hours a week", makes me wonder - you do know that it is more than clocking the time, right?

Also, I thought of another way to deal with difficulty with long paragraphs.... work through the vocabulary first. I've found if I really understand the definitions, I've got most of the information - and definitions are pretty short and concise. Besides it makes the reading a whole lot easier. The key is to understand the definitions, not necessarily to spit them back (although being able to do that too usually helps on tests).

It'll be confusing in psych because the big names tended to use the same words for different things, but it is still a useful strategy... it can be a way to seperate the people as much as understanding the concepts.

Lol of course i know theres more to clocking time. Time wasted is time not well spent. And thanks for the vocab
