Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I am studying the saunder's book, going thru questions on the saunders cd and studying the feuer nursing review. What other resources should I study and how do you guys recommend studying for the nclex?! thanks!! all help appreciated.

i am using the hurst review and it is the best review so far. If you ever want to study together please let me know. what state are u from?

clueless I just heard about this from one of my classmates. I am super excited. I will start it next week when I am back in school. The Hurst Review sounds like it is exactly what I need. Then I will do Kaplan.

I don't know if you are taking to me about studying together but how would we do that? Some kind of online study group??

I go to nursing school in Puerto Rico but I am from CA where I am now for Christmas break.

Hey Rita1015,

That cram book by pearson I thought was really dry. I read that whole book and I was kinda sucking when I was answering those questions, which was making me worried. That's why I turned to the Saunders CD on study mode. The book that came with that CD I want to burn and I felt that they gave you way too much information.

Personally, I think if your grades are ranging between 65-85% you will do fine on your NCLEX. I was talking with one of my classmates who took the NCLEX before me and she was telling me information she found out when she was asking around. You need at least a 50% to pass your NCLEX. If you are getting at least that or more you are set.

Make sure you do know your lab values, how to do dosage calcuations, and be sure to practice all of the select all that apply questions on Saunders to get yourself comfortable with them. (they are evil...and that's all I'll say about that)

Everyone studies and learn's differently but this is what I did and it helped me a lot to pass my NCLEX. If you want to talk more about it, feel free to PM me.

Thank you so much for your input! I read about half the Saunders book, definitely has a lot of information, but lately I've just been reviewing my notes of things to remember and sticking to a ton of questions.. Hopefully it pays off.. Thanks again!

I'm not really getting very far on the questions on the saunders CD....averaging about 20 questions a day. How fast or slow are you guys going who are getting in about 200 questions a day?

I try to do questions throughout the whole day. I usually sit down with a 100 question test in the morning and then review that. Throughout the day I review my notes and things I got wrong, why I got them wrong and look up things that I don't know. Late afternoon I do another 100 question test and review. Then I relax for a bit and end the night with as many questions as I can do until it's time for bed with of course taking the time to review the rationales.. I think everyone is different and things work different for everybody.. I'm definitely finding out, however, that by doing a ton of questions, I feel like I'm really getting the hang of it and understanding how to answer these questions. Best of Luck!

A book that I lived by during my studying was Prioritization, Delegation, & Assignment: Practice Exercises for Medical-Surgical Nursing (the red book). You have to keep in mind most of the content on NCLEX is leadership/delegation. This book is extremely helpful in rationals and all formats of questions. If you are looking for a book for quick 1-2 page practice tests and to learn a lot of useful information, use this trust me.

I take my Nclex feb 1, 2012. I am extremely excited about the idea of passing the first-time. I am using saunder Q&A 5800, Saunder Comprehensive book with Hurst for content review, Davis Q&A Nclex-Rn, and finally the LaCharity Book !! I am reviewing content then 100-200 questions on related content. Good luck to you all. I take breaks in between and listen to music to relax my mind. I am anxious to take the test but refuse to move up my date. I have job already in telemetry.

Sometime else to do for a change of scenery.....just google free nclex questions! The questions may not be up to NCLEX standards, but the info is good. I have come across several that refreshed some of the info shoved to the far recess of my brain. I am really slow at the CDs...so by googling whenever I'm on the computer, it seems like I cover a lot more.

I am not sure if you are taking PN or RN but I took my NCLEX-PN on Dec 27th.....I passed......I think what helped me the most was reading the Kaplan book and learing how to use Maslow's and the nursing process. The way I thought of it was if I have been in school for a year I should know basic content, what I didn't know I used these strategies to guide me to an answer. It worked for me I got 85 questions.

Congratulations on passing! :yelclap::w00t::yelclap::w00t:

I think Kaplan is pretty helpful also. I take my exam next month. We'll see what happens!
