Hi everybody!!

I ve been reading this forum for a while, searching the different threads but I havent found any that directly answer my inquiry.

lets start with a story: Im a nurse in the Phillipines, batch 2006, graduate of a state university and worked as a clinical instructor for a year. Came here last Nov, and submitted my papers to CNO for the assessment. Now, I am waiting for the result of the assessment. I ve been a housewife since I arrived and no idea if I will be a nurse here or not.

I worked as a part timer this Xmas season in an organization, Salvation Army after my 3 weeks stay.. I was lucky to have a job quickly and after the season,I have no job which I m not having used to. Im trying to find a job in line with my profession, caregiver, nanny etc..

so the questions are here:

1. How long will the assessment take place?

2. What other jobs besides caregiving/nanny could I apply since Im not registered here?

3. are there members of this forum that has a similar case with me? I really need some inputs and some what to talk to..( talking about comfort and re assurance)

Thanks to all of you! Godbless!

Hi! To answer some of your questions, yes, I have been assessed as an RPN and currently practicing. I did not take any bridging course but I did enrol some subjects in George Brown College. I would suggest to visit CARE for nurses website: care4nurses.org. The organization really helped me in my transition as a nurse here in Canada. Now, Im going to take the CRNE after almost 3 years of being here in Canada. It took a while but the wait is all worth it :D

hi rogue! just wanted to know how can i assessed my RPN? im still waiting for my RN assessment from CNO. do i have to send another credentials or what?

Hi there! I'm not rogue but I'm on the same position as you. I sent my RN application and I'm still waiting for a reply. I'll apply as a RPN if I am not eligible to sit the CRNE. Fingers crossed! Did they make you accomplish the BET form? Thanks!

they'll use the documents you sent with your RN application. you just need to fill out the RPN application form and pay for the RPN assessment fee.

RN assessment at CNO: it varies, mine took a good 4 months and a day.

:tinkbll: You can have an assessment in both categories of a nurse (RN/RPN) at the same time here in Ontario... Goodluck!! :)

Helo,

I am a RN form Poland. I applied for RPN in February 2011. What do you think, how long I have to wait for the letter of direction. I am worry about that because they have all my document they need. How long did you wait for your letter?

Hello Chlebek23!

Just wondering why you chose to apply for RPn instead of RN assesment.

Thanks

I apply for RPN and RN the same time, but I am still working on my BET. I know that if i apply for RPN I can receive letter of direction faster, but I'm still waiting and calling CNO. Answer is always the same: you have to wait.

Hi again! RN licenses in Poland is equivalent to ours in Norway :) I have a Polish RN friend in Norway, all she needs to do is change her license over to norwegian license. Norwegian RN license are eligible for the CRNE :) Good luck! Hoping you get your RN eligibility soon! Cheers!
