help planning to move in Sacramento, advice

Published

I lived for a short time in Texas now and I plan to move to Sacramento CA in one month. Is there any lovely nurse from there or anybody who used to live there and can share something about it??? I never have been there ! I need to know where to start looking for apartments safe area, close to a hospital. Can somebody recomend any hospital wher I could work after taking my NCLEX? I know the prices are higher there than in Texas, but for the begining I will take what is convenient. Any good ideas would be appreciate!

I need as much information as possible.

Are there many hospitals?

Thanks.

Does it have to be Sacramento, or other areas surrounding?

Yes, it has to be Sacramento. My brother will move with the work there, and I will be following him. He doesn't know either about the area.

I am only about two hours away, you will need to come for a visit. :)

Kaiser hospitals in the Sac area pay the highest, so it's worth checking out.

As far as apartments are concerned, it depends if you want to live in the City of Sac or the surrounding burbs. It also depends if you want to live in an urban area like midtown Sac or out in the quieter burbs, like Citrus Heights, Carmichael, Elk Grove, etc.

I live out in the burbs and prefer my 20 minute commute to work.

I am drinking my caffe and want to say hello and Good morning to you!

Wow,.. just 2 hours from there ? I didn't know you are living in CA!

Thank you for the invitation !

How I see, good people are living there!

Have a nice day! :wink2:

Thank you very much for the tip. My brother is on the way there ( he will move there too). He has to bring his car there. So you can imagine to drive from Texas to Ca.... I will call him and tell him about the information I got from you!

Is the Kaiser Hospital in the midtown ? I am interested to get a appartment in that area (I have to get a map to look at).

Thanks a lot for your help !

Depending on which route that you take, you may only be a few miles from where I am living.

I am in Sacramento right now as we speak ( or type). I suggest you go to the website of the local paper "Sacramento Bee" @ http://sacbee.com and look through the job listings and apt.rentals. As with any town it is probably best to stay away from the southside.

Many hospitals in and around Sacramento, also lots of new construction, houses and shopping centers etc., going through from the south on Hwy 99, or I 5, out to Woodland. Hwy 50 leads to Tahoe, I 80 goes up towards the mountains, and many of the small towns around have hospitals as well as downtown. Try Sutter, CHW, Kaiser, look up Sac Hospitals online to give you some ideas. You shouldn't have much problem finding a job.

California AAA is a good place for maps, and worth a membership if you haven't joined the one in Texas.

Did you get your CA licence yet?

California turned out to be a good move for us, and it wasn't even on our list of places to go.

Just read that you have to take your NCLEX, it'll take a while to get all your paperwork organized, which will give you chance to look around. We have several new grads who have worked through orientation as RNIP's, and it's taken a couple of months to get their licences.

Good luck!

Hi Mimi RN!

Thank you very much for this! :biggringi

Yes I am on my way to become a nure in US, prepareing for the NCLEX, moving to Sacramento. :chair:

At the moment I am still waiting for ATT. Because I am a foreign trained nurse it's take" a little bit" longer until I 'll get it. At the moment they requested from school aditional documents. I'll try to get them . (vacation time !) :uhoh3:

I am very happy for every tip what I get from you, cose I am new in US!

Thanks again !!!!
