Help after passing NCLEX-RN (Illinois)

World Registration

Published

Hi, everyone!

Could you guys help me out? I just recently passed my NCLEX-RN for the Illinois BON. Considering that retrogression is looming, I may not be able to leave for the US soon. Although, I am just waiting for an interview schedule. My case was completed just last Sept 29,2006.

How long is my NCLEX-RN valid? I know I am required to have a SSN before a license can be issued..and I need to be physically in the US to get one. Will I indeed not be issued a license without a SSN? And what do I do if the validity of my passing scores expires?

Ok..hope you guys can help me out. Thanks in advance!

Eligibility may just take a couple of weeks to months and once you get eligibility register with pearsonvue.

Suzanne's plan is no longer available on this site

So I won't be able to renew the license unless I get a SSN? Is there any way around this rule?

It is clear from the rules and regulations of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations, that upon renewal of your nursing license, you must provide your Social Security Number. So strictly speaking you must furnish them your SS#. Now, if you are still in the Philippines or in any country outside US, and you still have no SS# on the basis that you are one of those applicants whose application for immigrant visa under employment base category, was on hold due to the retrogression, you must have to write the Illinois BoN, indicating the said fact. They will still renew your license on the basis of your justifications why you can't furnish them one.:jester:

What if you are taking NCLEX in IL, without SS.. are you going to be penalized for it? professor from CCC said i should just take the exam, since im getting married this may with my longterm gf (i got expired visa).. Can i Still take exam without getting in trouble?

I know you got one year to provide SS# once you renew of license.

- Suzanne/Silverdragon i need your help on this one. i have not taken my exam yet bcoz i dont want to risk anything. I was under H4 visa until my dad dropped the bomb on me that my visa expired when i was in nursing school (so i just finished it coz of all the wasted years i spent on it)

I doubt you will be penalised for not having a SSN the issue is sorting your status out and will probably need to speak to a immigration lawyer experienced in sorting out your status

Hi, I recently passed my nclex rn exam in NJ. Even though i have passed, this did not result in a license as my visa status does not allow me to work. I have social security number but its not work authorized. Does anyone know if board of nursing of NJ will issue a letter saying that i passed nclex rn . I am not sure where to get proof that i passed NCLEX-RN. I asked pearson vue and they are telling me that the board of nursing i am applying to shoudl be informing regardign this but the NJ BON is telling me that they can't do anything and they simply don't issue licenses to people who are not work authorized.

Any input would be appreciated.

thank you

kay.

What proof have you had that you passed NCLEX? The state should issue a letter stating you meet requirements and that they will not issue a license until you provide proof of work/immigrant visa

Thank you...i will call them up monday and ask them for it...the BON people were so not helpful ...she said there's nothign else to do until i provide some sort of work visa . I didn't realize i was supposed to get a letter stating that, i passed nclex rn almost a month and half ago and no repy from them yet.

Thank you

PASSED nclex!, confirmed about taking exam without SSN. now all i have to do is apply for license. they sent me a form. to pay IDFPR $50.

Now Im wondering how am i going to update the SSN with IDFPR once i get it?... I know you have to provide SSN b4 renewal but, will i get introuble if i start working already when i get my EAD/SSN? i will be getting my SSN soon, my papers are half way processed. I got a schedule for USCIS fingerprinting tomorrow. ... any input?

You need to contact the BON as soon as you get your SSN and they will issue you a license, I doubt, even with permission to work, you can work without a license. Usually doesn't take long once SSN is given to the BON

Oh i know that, they issued license to my classmate who were in the same situation as me. they still sent them their License... i was just wondering if i do get my license, should i wait till 2011 May to provide SSN or do i need to inform them ASAP

I would inform them of your SSN as soon as you get it
