Help after passing NCLEX-RN (Illinois)

World Registration

Published

Hi, everyone!

Could you guys help me out? I just recently passed my NCLEX-RN for the Illinois BON. Considering that retrogression is looming, I may not be able to leave for the US soon. Although, I am just waiting for an interview schedule. My case was completed just last Sept 29,2006.

How long is my NCLEX-RN valid? I know I am required to have a SSN before a license can be issued..and I need to be physically in the US to get one. Will I indeed not be issued a license without a SSN? And what do I do if the validity of my passing scores expires?

Ok..hope you guys can help me out. Thanks in advance!

Oh i know that, they issued license to my classmate who were in the same situation as me. they still sent them their License... i was just wondering if i do get my license, should i wait till 2011 May to provide SSN or do i need to inform them ASAP

Hi! Can you give me advise on topics that you encountered on your nclex? Thanks! I will take it next month.... Thanks Kabayan! By the way, Im here in Indiana... [email protected]

Hi Silverdragon102, how can I secure SSN, If I am Canadian. Do I need to go to California to find a job first or do they allow me to get SSN first as soon as I get to California then find a job? Please let me know, I appreciate it.

You can't get a SSN until in the US with a valid work/immigrant visa. Therefore you need a job plus TN visa (if that is the route you are looking at) and then go to the SSN issuing office once in the US

To Silverdragon; I am not an RN here in Canada, but I just passed the NCLEX-RN. Ca BRN is requesting me to provide them an SSN so they could process and issue me my license. What should I do next?... Do I first find a job and get SSN? But how can someone hire me if my license is not even process yet?

If you are a Canadian then you can qualify for the NAFTA visa which will allow you to work in the US but you need a employer first as they need to supply you with a employment letter. Only once in the US with your NAFTA visa can you apply for a SSN. Once you have a SSN then your license will quickly be issued by CA. If you find a employer your best bet is to explain to them that your license will not be issued until you have arrived into the US with the TN visa and they should give you a bit of time to get sorted

Thank you very much for giving me an idea Silverdragon102. God bless.

Hi, does anybody know how to renew the license after it expired and not renewed for a cycle? I received my license in 2008 expired on 2010 and did not renew for the 2010 to 2012, thinking that it wouldn't be a problem since it's going to be renewed again after 2 years. Im trying to renew now but I can't I dont know how plus they did not send any renewal form anymore. I'm a nurse in the philippines and stuck in the retrogression. Please if anybody knows anything about this help me thanks.

Hi jpolramos,

You need to write the IDFPR (Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation) for the reinstatement of your license if it is less than 5 years expired. If it is more than 5 years, it is a more lengthy and complicated process. This is the address:

IDFPR - Licensing Maintenance Unit

320 West Washington Street 3/f

Springfield, IL 62786

Include in your letter the following:

-request to reinstated

-name

-new address

-old address

-SSN

-DOB

-License number

-child support does not apply

-sign and date

-with the appropriate fee (which you will know if you call this number: 2177820458. It takes awhile for them to take your call but worth the wait.)

I know this because we were in the same boat before. It took me 3 weeks to get my license.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
