i am a new grad (graduated in may 09 still have no experience) i have an interview for elmhurst's er. just wondering has anyone recently interviewed at elmhurst? does anyone know what the interview process is like? any tips and/or pointers? what can i expect? what kinds of question do they ask? any help is greatly appreciated.
Thats what I heard from one of the recruiters at Lutheran in Brooklyn. She told me to call back or re-apply in January.
By the way I also graduated in May/09 and still no job. Applied to more than 20 facilities and nothing. Im going to start volunteering at Lutheran to get my foot in at least, and I am considering going back for my BSN this summer.
hi all.
i'm also a new grad job hunting. Planning of going back for my BSN too considering the job market.
@ orgo geek: Getting an interview is a great stepping stone. It helps you understand the resume game a lil more knowing how the rest of us and our resumes go down the bin/never get interview calls.I wish you all the luck in your next search.
Btw,did you have any previous nursing related experience?I live very close to Elmhurst and would love to work there.
I checked the HHC website and see so many RN job postings but wonder whether I have to write a cover letter for each of them? May sound like a stupid question but that is where I am in the application process.

answer: i did a summer internship in nursing school but not at that hospital. but no one really considers that hard core "experience"

answer: i cant answer that for you but i can tell you i did not write a seperate one for each position. at a few other hospitals i applied at they stated they wanted seperate cover letters so thats what i provided them with. and not all was that a stupid question.
orgo, can you tell me about the interview? i have an interview at elmhurst on monday and, like you, am just wondering what to expect. did they ask any clinical questions or have you do a review of systems or anything like that? any info or advice would be much appreciated.
sorry you didn't get the job, it's really hard being a new grad in new york right now. hope you've since found a job, and if not i'm sure it's only a matter of time.... good luck!!
I suggest you check out the Johns Hopkins Interview Guide. I heard it's REALLY helpful! Good luck!
This is a great resource!
