Here's a link about benchmarking ............... it's one of those buzz words.
Can I suggest that you ring the Nurse Educator of the areas which you are interested in .................. pick their brains. Tell them directly that you have an interview and if they can offer any help about what the questions may be. You can also find out who the last new grad nurses are from last intake and pick their brains. Employers like to know that you are willing to research the positions before interviews. You can also ring HR and ask for copies of PDs. Of course, your lecturers or tutors should be able to give you some help also.
Heaps of blessings for your interview! You will do well
PS SEEING THAT YOU WILL BE ON CLINICALS ON THE DAY OF YOUR INTERVIEW, ...... CAN I SUGGEST TO YOU THAT YOU TAKE AT LEAST 45 MINS OFF CLINICALS BEFORE THE INTERVIEW TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE INTERVIEW. YOU KNOW, START FOCUSSING ON THE INTERVIEW, CALM YOURSELF DOWN ETC ETC
Well during and as soon as I finished the interview, I thought it went well, but the longer I am away from it I am not so sure
I was told a selection criteria and had to answer it then and there. I was asked something along the lines of 'You are a RN what things such as the ANMC competencies do you operate under and how do the relate to patient care and nursing practice?' They wanted names of the Acts, legislation, QNC stuff and so on. I just went blank, however with prompting I was able to remember some of it. It was nothing like I expected, none of the normal 'why do you want to work here?' 'what are your strengths/weaknesses?' or stuff on teamwork, or anything like that
So all the stuff I had been rehearsing and studying up on was not needed :trout:
So now I have to wait till the 1st October to hear the results of the interview :uhoh21:
Don't let it worry you. Most of the people interviewing expect you to be a bit nervious and you were able to answer the questions with promts, so that's a good thing.
If you have some other interviews come up, it might be useful to read some of the Selection Critrea that QLD Health advertises their jobs with. They can be found QLD Government job site.
I really hope you went well in the interview. A stupid question though - what is benchmarking? When do you find out the results?
Not a stupid question but it is something that you need to know ...... see wikipaedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmarking

I am just so excited!!:balloons:
I am going to be graduating very soon and put my application in for grad positions next year.
I recieved a phone call today saying I have an interview on the 11th Sept for a grad position at my local hospital. (well they actually rang late yesterday afternoon, but I was so excited and the by the time I calmed down, no one answered as they had finished work LOL)
I am a sole parent so I am unable to move to look for a position elsewhere, and we only have the 1 hospital locally.
Anyway, HELP, I haven't been to an interview for about 20 yrs!!!!
Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated! Is it alright to wear my clinical uniform to an interview, (I will be on clinical placment on the day of the interview)
I was told yesterday by a new grad from this year that they will ask something about 'benchmarking', anyone have an idea of what this is?
The lady also said thismorning that I had been 'short-listed for an interview' what does this mean (I guessed it meant that I had a good chance), and is it something they would say to everyone?
Sorry if I am rambling, but starting to panic, I am just so desparate to get this job!!!!
