Okay...I am thinking about revamping my spring schedule and need advice from people who have already taken some of these classes. I know we have no idea what the combined classes will be like and how much more work they will be in 5 weeks time frame.
I had planned on taking Health Appraisal and Interventions (combined) in the fall with Nursing Excellence. I am wondering if I should change this and go with the following:
1. Take appraisal and interventions this spring which I would have to double up Interventions with Community Health and then Appraisal with Legal and Ethics this spring.
2. Then I would have to double up Excellence with Diversity in the last 5 weeks of Fall semester.
1. and 2. would have me doubling up in 3 different 5 weeks sessions
OR.........
3. Stick with my original plan and do Community by itself, then Ethics/Legal doubled with Diversity in the spring and then combined Appraisal/Intervention with Excellence in the fall.
(this has me only doubling up twice...but the last session is combined class doubled with excellence)
Help.....give me your opinion.

I took Appraisal with Interventions my second 5 week session of the program. I tested out of appraisal though, so technically only took interventions. I found interventions to be pretty easy...
Had I not tested out of appraisal, the syllabus seemed like a lot of work. I thought about completing the class to get an A rather than a B+, but did not want to do all the work associated with it.
Also, I found legal/ethics to be an easy class as well. I took it with Family health nursing, and most of my time was devoted to family health, little time left for legal, and I pulled an A in it. I think that option 1 seems quite doable since interventions will be with Community health (which I read was time consuming) and appraisal will be with legal/ethics (which I found to be quite easy).
Good luck with whichever decision you make :)
Thank you for your input! I may change my classes. I have taken a two month sabbatical off from work these next two months and think I should just go for it and get it over with.

I have a similar question. If I take 416 (Management) and 445 (Strategic Planning) in the spring I would be done with those and wouldn't take 4580 (the combined course) next fall. However I would be taking 416 with 341 (Community) which I hear is a lot of busy work. I would take 445 with cultural diversity. What does this do? It means I would finish in 11/3 instead of 12/8. Is it worth it? I don't know. I guess none of us know what the combined courses will be like. I'd love some feedback. Thanks!

I don't know - what I can tell you is Management and Strategic Planning were 2 of the most straight forward classes. This is the assignment, see the rubric, no gray areas at all. There was no question of how to do an assignment.
Nursing Management had:
5 case studies @ 20 pts each
5 discussion posts @ 10 pts each
2 short papers @ 35 pts each
2 quiz @ 15 pts each
Strategic planning had work documents
Organization and Unit mission 20pts
Culture of safety 20 pts
Quality and safety 20 pts
Hospital compare 20 pts
1 paper on moving knowledge to practice worth 30 pts
and 2 quizes worht 10pts each
This is a tough decision. Am I too late to register and add a class? I guess I'd better consider that real quick. I swore I wouldn't double up but now I'm getting concerned. It sounds like these 2 classes are super straight forward. Thank you rninme. Anyone else have a feel for now vs later???
I was wondering if there is any cost savings in waiting to take combined classes instead of taking them individually.
That might be a factor to consider. I know since they combined Transistions and Legal it is worth 6 credit hours. Individually I believe they are worth 4 each for a total of 8.
So, what will be the costs for credit hours after they change to semesters? Personally, I would rather get done sooner than later. But, If I change my classes I still graduate at the same time.
Ok, so if I double next session and then again in July I can finish 9/29 if I take Research with Excellence. I don't know if that is feasible. Otherwise I'll be done 11/3. It's starting to sound good...but it always does in print, lol!
I am considering doubling research and excellence - I would love to be done the end of September!! Or - 1 at a time and be done Nov 3. Hmmmmmm. Not sure, not sure - but I have time to decide
Sounds like Excellence isn't that bad...hmmm, the end of Sept is sounding mighty good to me!
My OCD may have a complete and total meltdown! I am still considering it - but need to assess what that will do to my financial aid status ... money talks
I will likely be pretty poor company for my family for a few weeks. However, the good is starting to outweigh the bad. And with longer daylight I can still squeeze in some outdoor fun.
