Im so worried! I took my hesi today and my over all grade is 88! I study for anatomy for almost a month and i only got 76. I passed it by a point. this is annoying! but my math and reading was high which pulled me up to a 88. i think 88 in not enough to guarante my acceptance also my gpa! my prereq gpa is 3.8 and my cumulative gpa 3.6. Im applying for the generic program. Im really nervous!Anyone from the program already knows if my grades are enough in order to get into the program? It is killing me! anyone else applied??
AmmaO and issyl11,
We can't mention names here so please email me your questions. My email is [email protected]
Hey Aristide.
The first round of rejections were sent out the week of the 15th to those who were ineligible for the program. Last week Thursday they sent out the rest of rejection letters for those who were eligible but the reason being because of a lack of seats and very very few letters telling some that they are wait listed just in case anyone else drop their seats to the program. I know this because I was a VERY persistent caller especially because I kept being misinformed about my grades .Your best bet is to call to find out your status and give yourself a piece of mind at this point, I did the same but I still haven't recieved anything either. Competition was very high this year cut-off was in the 3.6 range. My gpa was in fact a 3.56 and not 3.63 that I was informed I had. I hope that helps and best of luck to you dear.
Hello everyone!I applied for both accelerated and generic program. But I didn't get any mail or email yet. Do you think I still have any chance to be accept to program?
Aristide,
I think you should contact the nursing office, you should have heard something by now, regardless of your admission status...
Hello everyone,
I hope preparations are going on smoothly for all. Please I would greatly appreciate it if any past student who graduated from the accelerated program could kindly share how challenging it was with regards to working part time. I am a little nervous as to combining working part time(20+hrs) a week in addition to taking the accelerated program. Do you think is doable or is best just to concentrate on the school work. Hopefully I get to hear some meaningful contributions. Thank you all for the time! See you all at orientation and be safe out there as we wait.

Hi ABC15,
One of the requirements for the accelerated program is that you cannot be working. However, there is no way school can check whether you work or not so it's just an honors system. If you must work and keep it to yourself, then I don't see why not.
Having said that though, I don't see how you can physically fit 20 hours of part time work into your schedule. We are taking more classes and in some semester, double the clinical hours compared to the generic program. There is simply not enough time. I have seen so many bright people challenged by the generic program itself; I would highly advise against working 20 hours a week while attending accelerated program.
Since the program is only 12 months long, I believe it's totally justifiable and worth it to take out as much student loan as possible to pay the bills while you're in school. It's an investment you cannot afford to screw up; this program can bring a ton of benefits for the rest of our lives.
Hello StarvingRtist,
Thanks so much for your thoughtful response. I perfectly agree with you this is a life changing opportunity hence should strive to make all the necessary sacrifices to succeed. The Good things in Life doesn't come easily and I believe this is an example of one of those. I am positive I will survive without having to work for a year. After all we looking at the big picture and ultimate price. Once again thanks for your wise counsel, in the multitude of counselors there is safety as the bible says.
I have a question for those attending Lehman who already had a BS degree prior to admission. Did you need to submit high school transcript in addition to college transcripts to apply? On the CUNY website it says transfer students need to submit high school transcripts in addition to college but I graduated from high school in 1998 and my former high school has been closed for several years now so I am not sure how to get my transcripts (I have my diploma though). I already have my BS degree from Brooklyn College (2003) and have taken graduate and undergraduate courses since. I would like to enroll at Lehman for Spring 2016 so I can take organic chem in the Spring and HIN 269 in the Fall (I will be transferring the other prereqs). Thanks

I didn't have to submit my high school transcript when I applied to Lehman as a second degree student back in 2014. However, I think that's because I applied to CUNY as a backup school in 2002 and my high school record was already saved in the system since then.
I personally find it ridiculous to require second degree students to submit high school transcript; it's just a waste of time, money and human resources on every level. Your best bet is to talk to someone in the admissions office, that's the only way to be sure. I think it's in the Shuster building.
Thanks starvingrtist. I contacted cuny admissions via email and they said I do not need high school records since I have degree. I do however still need to submit paper transcripts from Brooklyn because I graduated over 10 years ago so I will have to request transcripts from there and the other schools I took courses from over the years. Thanks again
