Help for Interview with New York Downtown Hospital

Published

Hi all,

I graduated from an accelerated BSN program in June. After no luck in finding a position in a hospital, I accepted a job as an RN in a practice. I recently received a call from New York Downtown Hospital for an interview!! This was the first and only call back I have received from a hospital since June 2012, so needless to say, I don't want to mess this up. I would like to know if anyone has any experience interviewing with NY Downtown. I am interested in hearing your experience and would love any tips if you have them.

Thanks!

Good luck with the interview! I don't have any helpful advice, but I wanted to say I feel your pain! I started applying in NYC in June 2012 and saying it's been hard would be an understatement. NY Downtown hospital, 128 beds, non-union. I remember finding a thread or two on allnurses, small hospital with some management issues (sorry to say). As always, every unit's different though

New York Downtown Hospital is undergoing a major *upheaval* as it is being wholly incorporated into the NYP system.

While NYP and NYDH had a contractual arrangement previously the latter even as the only hospital below 14th street since the closure of Saint Vinny's was still not making money and in financial difficulty.

Just a week or so ago the entire post graduate medical staff at NYDH was let go as NYP is going to bring in their own.

Good luck!

I interviewed with New York Downtown Hospital back in the fall. I interviewed with the nurse recruiter and then a few months later with the nurse manager. The current nurse recruiter was recently hired when he interviewed me.The complete process is very unorganized. They say they'll keep in touch, but I never heard a word from them. I hope you have better luck with them!

Good for you! Good luck! I applied weeks ago for a position there. Never heard back! :( Tell us how it goes!
