Help! I need a BLScard ASAP!!!

:trout: My BLS card expired!! Does my BLS card have to be from American Heart Assoc? Or as long as the web site says ECC approved, is that ok? or a company that has certification by "Emergency and safety care institute",or there is a company that says "Our CPR/AED classes are taught by the strict guidelines of the ECC 2005 Standards." An online class would really help, as my ACLS expired as well I have a class scheduled for next Monday( I tried to get in earlier, I really did ). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It depends on your facility. Mine requires AHA guidelines/approval.

Our facility has persons trained in CPR teaching for us to renew ours,what does your supervisor recommend??

Check with your area's EMS peepz - they may be able to steer you in the right direction on this. Many Fire and EMS agencies offer CPR recert classes fairly often.

I'm traveling to Ohio on very short notice, I'm not scheduled for my hospital until end of april- so I need to get one on my own. I just didn't know if those online services- who are not aha are scams or not- because they are the only ones who will let you do an initial card. the aha only does renewals

Check with your local American Red Cross about a class. The AHA does do initial classes also; you may have to check with some of the local schools or the local ARC office. The only difference I found between the two is that the ARC expires in 1 yr and the AHA in 2 yrs. My employer will accept either card. After 25 yrs of doing AHA every 2 years; last year I did ARC. My card expired by 2 weeks and my new employer sent me home and would not allow me to work until I renewed. Fortunantly I only missed 1 scheduled day of work.
