Help!! Going on my 2nd interview for the NICU!!

Published

I graduated in may and have had the hardest time finding a job! I have an interview in 4 days in the NICU. This is my dream job!! So I super excited but so nervous! I just want it to go so well! My first interview I went on was for a med-surg unit in a different hospital, I left feeling pretty confident, but I didnt get the job. The only problem is I have no idea what I may have done or said wrong! Anyone have any tips? Or possible questions the NICU may ask? Thanks!!

There are many questions, but I guarantee that these three will be asked and you should be prepared with the appropriate answers.

Q: Why do you want to work here?

Q: Tell us your strengths and weaknesses.

Q: Give an example of how you have dealt with a stressful situation.

You may have done nothing wrong- just someone with more experience came along... :) Good luck :)

I agree with the previous poster, you may have done nothing wrong at the other interview, but someone with more experience may have come along. Think positive. It's a good thing that interview did not end in a job because then you would not be interviewing for your dream job! Sounds perfect, go get it! Good luck!

Thank you so much!! You're right! Because not only is this my dream job, but it's at my dream hospital!! I'm so thankful for this opportunity! And ya know, thinking positive really does work. I've applied so many times at this hospital! Never got a call back..until I said I will get this job!! :)

Another thing to consider is the culture and "personality" of that particular unit. A nursing friend of mine said that that definitely figures into the equation a lot of the times since its important that you work well as a unit and even better if you can play well together, too. And yeah, speaking from experience (in another industry) from interviewing at similar places, all else being equal, it ultimately comes down to whether you're a good "fit".

After I learned that, I began to look for that as well b/c given a choice, I'd want to work with people that share my humor, etc, etc...

So yeah, don't get bummed about that first one! When something doesn't work out, then there is something else even better waiting in the future for sure =)
