Hello everyone,
I really need advice on what I should study...I feel extremely miserable and I feel like a total failure. A little about myself...I was a B student in nursing school (3.2 GPA) and I graduated last year. However, my school seemed to have sent out the paperwork much later for some students because my application wasn't processed until early March (took 5 months since graduation). I took my NCLEX-RN for the first time in March and I failed...PVT is indeed very accurate. I went all the way to 265 questions and only had 4 mins remaining on my time. It was an extremely difficult test. I had about 60 SATAs (I was marking a dash on my board every time I had a SATA Q), 15 EKGs, lots of OB and mental health questions, 2 med math, and about 20 exhibit questions. Honestly, my NCLEX was much harder than UWorld questions. I knew I failed, and then the PVT confirmed that by giving me the message saying "incorrect expiration number."
I retook my exam 4 days ago, and again I had the "bad pop-up," and got charged $200. This time, I only went up to 76 questions. I felt good about this exam though. It felt really easy! So, that must mean that I must have totally bombed it...Unlike my first attempt, I only had 2 EKGs, and hardly and OB and mental health. It seemed like a completely different exam. This exam was focused more on fundamentals and infection control and priority/delegation questions. I had no med math this time.
I don't know what my problem is...maybe I have terrible test anxiety...I was a repeat test taker for my NCLEX-PN exam too. Again, the PVT was always accurate back then too. Seems like until you get the good pop-up, you fail.
Anyways, how I studied for my NCLEX-RN the second time around was using UWorld (I did ALL 1900 Qs), Kaplan (did ALL the Qs), and LaCharity (finished up to case study #3). For UWorld, I wrote exactly 127 pages of notes, yest ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN pages of notes from the rationales. I read my notes front and back three times. I only took the UWorld questions once, I did not redo the ones I had incorrect and my overall was 49%. On Kaplan, I averaged around 50-60%. On UWorld, I had anywhere from as low as 30% to 70%. I would do the tests in 75qs. LaCharity was a lot easier than the two, and my scores averaged from 50-90%. I felt extremely prepared this second time around....but knowing that I failed, I am totally devastated and lost...I don't know what study anymore.......Any advice on what I should use as my resource to study for the NCLEX-RN? Is Hurst or Rachell Allen helpful? I would really appreciate any advice...thank you~

I know it is a hard exam. It tests your critical thinking ability. I would advise you to read everyday, and do questions. Use dictionary, make note of what u learn daily as a memory. Go back and read ur note sometimes. U cant answer the question if u dont fully understand every word in the question. Good luck. U can do it!!

How exactly did you study with UWorld? Did you just do random questions or study by Systems? I asked because I was a repeat test taker and had used Uworld before and failed, but this last time I used it again but changed how I studied and passed.
