HELP! City Tech Nursing fall 2015

Published

Hello all, im new to this site, so I have no isea if im posting in the right area. But I attend City Tech in brooklyn ny, I came in as a transfer student from expensive LIU, anyway i took anatomy and physiology there, but at LIU its two different classes. Anatomy is 4 credits and physiology is 3 credits. At City Tech the these bio classes are a&p 1 and a&p2. So to balance out my credits at LIU, i had to retake a&p2. When i recived all my prereqs for city tech, i noticed on the website it says a&p1 cannot be taking more then 5 years ago. Being that City tech took my anatomy grade as a&p1. I took it over 7 years ago. But i also see on the website if you got a grade of c or better in one of the prereqs, then you can take a higher class to replace that grade. I took a&p2 last year. So should i retake a&p1??? Im really confused about this. And no one picks up the phone at the nursing office in the pearl building. And when i go there to ask questions the office is closed! This is the only class im missing. But not exactly. My grades are a&p1 c+ ( which is bad i know, took it almost 10 years ago), a$p2 B, Child phy B, Math 1275 A, Eng B+, reg Phy B. Should i take teas to see if ill get in? Or wait and take a&p1 over?? I wonder if i sit for the teas 5 score a very high grade what will happen. If i take a&p1 for spring 2015, i may have to wait to apply to the program for spring 2016, which is so annoying, because i heard that they have to see all your grades before you apply to their nursing program. Helllppppppp what do i do????????????????

Good luck and do keep us posted! Hope you get in !

Just found out I got a B in math 1275, so my GPA is like 3.38 or 3.42, with a 80 on my TEAS, I'm hopeful, but not really optimistic. It depends on the pool. I hope I get in too, I would hate to hve to take calculus, lol

Hey you never know. Is that your overall GPA or only for the 4 classes they are considering?

Your TEAS score looks promising. You can also substitute/ replace one class for another higher class grade. So you have that as a cushion as well. But they will automatically do that.

@bizarreville that's my 4 class GPA, my overall is like 3.6 (got an A in sociology, which I would have to take later on down the line, but I needed a complete schedule). If anything I would take pre-calculus to replace the 1275 grade, but I don't want to = (

I just spoke with the secretary, and she said the grades were really low this year, and that I'm in so don't worry, but you never really know until you get the letter....

Hey if that's what she said then well and good lol! I know we all need that teeny ray of hope. To me you sound like you did your best. I feel you'll get in. Even if you GPA is a tad low your TEAS is high, that would give you an advantage. Did you ever check out any of the information sessions held by the nursing dept?

She said they will be sending them out in a week or two, so by mid Jun we should know. Last year letters were received by several students June 3rd and 4th (per AllNurses Forums). But I think the semester ended a couple of days earlier for whatever reason. I'm excited to start the program. I will be resigning from my full time and will just work my part-time once I'm in. Working 2 jobs and doing a full class load was a lot. House and personal chores to boot. So I'm confident once I'm in and REALLY focused I'll be fine.

Yeah last yr I got the letter in the 2nd week of June. opening that letter and feeling my heart beat so fast.... I still can't forget that feeling !!!!! It's absolutely doable with a Job and classes. Bt to be honest I'm not sure two jobs are possible.. I had to quit the second I had. but by mid-sem if you still think you can do it, go for it. Coz 2nd sem I had to ask for days off from the 1 job I had to study. 1st sem is mad easy, it gets progressively harder as you go up the levels. Now I'm in the 3rd sem, with one job trying to pay my bills lol. There are many that had to repeat a class coz they didnt pass it.. you don't wanna do that.. I barely scraped thru with God's grace! . don't over work yourself, pls remember that your priority is nursing school and to bcme an RN, even if it means living on Ramen noodles and soup for the next 2-3 yrs. money will come and go, bt you don't wanna be held back.

@bizarreville yes that little ray on hope is a lot to me. And yup, I went to a session, the first one! I'm a research head (a very anxious one) It was intimidating, and I realized I should have worked a little harder. Well, we'll know in a few weeks, hopefully I'll see you around = )
