HELP! City Tech Nursing fall 2015

Published

Hello all, im new to this site, so I have no isea if im posting in the right area. But I attend City Tech in brooklyn ny, I came in as a transfer student from expensive LIU, anyway i took anatomy and physiology there, but at LIU its two different classes. Anatomy is 4 credits and physiology is 3 credits. At City Tech the these bio classes are a&p 1 and a&p2. So to balance out my credits at LIU, i had to retake a&p2. When i recived all my prereqs for city tech, i noticed on the website it says a&p1 cannot be taking more then 5 years ago. Being that City tech took my anatomy grade as a&p1. I took it over 7 years ago. But i also see on the website if you got a grade of c or better in one of the prereqs, then you can take a higher class to replace that grade. I took a&p2 last year. So should i retake a&p1??? Im really confused about this. And no one picks up the phone at the nursing office in the pearl building. And when i go there to ask questions the office is closed! This is the only class im missing. But not exactly. My grades are a&p1 c+ ( which is bad i know, took it almost 10 years ago), a$p2 B, Child phy B, Math 1275 A, Eng B+, reg Phy B. Should i take teas to see if ill get in? Or wait and take a&p1 over?? I wonder if i sit for the teas 5 score a very high grade what will happen. If i take a&p1 for spring 2015, i may have to wait to apply to the program for spring 2016, which is so annoying, because i heard that they have to see all your grades before you apply to their nursing program. Helllppppppp what do i do????????????????

Do they just look at the teas v score and pre req gpa?

They will touch your application if you have an overall 2.5 GPA BUT you have to have a minimum 3.0 pre-req GPA as mentioned by the Nursing Dept. and they accept in descending order from 4.0 downwards. So if your GPA is 4.0 and your TEAS are 68% overall or 70% you will get in for sure. Your pre-req GPA is most important

Hi again, im actually the same person above. Dont know what happened with that acct. but anyways, thanks for the reply!

My pre req gpa is 3.6 and teas v is 78.7

however the application did ask for current nycct grades & transfer credit grades. I didn't do so well in one course i'm taking this semester; do you think that will affect the application a lot?

are you applying for Spring 2016 or fall 2015?

So far from what you said about your GPA an teas, it looks mad promising, but I don't wanna give false hope. They look at teas to see if you've passed. and then your gpa. and if the gpa looks good then you're in for sure. but if your gpa is anywhere btwn 3.0-3.4 or 3.5 they'll look at your teas then! coz its competitive to get in but it's harder to actually stay in. We're all dying here with finals week lol!

Don't stress too much on the application process, because the stress from when you're actually in the program is going to be tons worse and it only gets worse. You will feel like first semester is hard and what not, but then 2nd will be harder and so forth.

You just gotta learn to let things go. You applied, you tried your best, now the results are out of your control. You just gotta wait and see if they accept you. It's the same with every nursing exam. You took the test, you did your best, now you just gotta wait till they post the grades, because it doesn't help to obsess over it.

You guys are really nice ! Thank you @bizarreville and @rescueninjaky. wish you guys best of luck on finals and in whatever you do :)

absolutely correct!

One more thing, since the overall gpa minimum has to be 2.5, does the transfer gpa count? :x kinda screwed if it doesn't :(

Yes it does. City tech will transfer it according to their system. I transferred from upstate Buffalo. they transferred everything they could and informed me of what didnt go thru and what did. So I had to repeat Math 1275 before I got into the Nursing Program

@ chloezy23 Did you submit your application for fall 2015 already? or are you applying for spring 2016??

I submitted for fall 2015. When you received your acceptance, was it a thick regular sized white envelope? Waiting these two weeks is the worst lol

Oh good! So I'm hoping to see you at Orientation. Me and a few other 3rd and a 2nd sem students will be there with the faculty.

With me, it wasn't a thick envelope. Just regular sized like from a credit card company.

I can imagine how intimidating the wait is. Chin up, keep the faith thats it. Remember you did your best.

I'm super nervous/excited myself. Just completed Math 1275 and I'm waiting on the grade. Pretty sure my entrance depends on how I did in that class. Wish the process wasn't so nerve wrecking, even though this is the easy part. I'm looking forward to the challenge, I know I can do this, just need the department to feel the same, lol. Hopefully I'll see you girls there = )
