Hi, I have been reading a lot of thread here and it really helps me dealing with my anxiety before taking the NCLEX RN exam. My test will be on December 8 and that is 2 days from now. I have no idea if I will get the good news after. I graduated in Nursing school 7 years ago. I am from the Philippines and passed my local board exam. I also practiced in Philippines for 2 years. I went to Kuwait and I passed their licensure examination (Ministry of Kuwait) and work for their government for 3 years. I've been in ER, Med/Surg and Pediatric Department during my entire career. Now, I am here in the States with my husband and a 2 year old daughter. I waited 1 year and 6 months for me to complete all the necessary requirements from my school in Philippines and Professional Regulations Commission. It was a battle getting things done when you are not present to do it yourself. That is why If you have the opportunity to do it right away yourself, do so.
I am in this point that I am having severe anxiety. First of all I graduated a little bit ago (2007) it is a little too hard for me to recall a lot of things in nursing (content). In addition to that I am not the most studious person either back in the day. I am happy being a wife and a mom. I have a part time job too and thank the Lord for everything but one thing for sure it is not easy to do it all. NCLEX RN is a very difficult exam. I am saying it personally. Some may find it easy but in my opinion, it is one tough exam.
I am just saying a prayer and good luck to everyone who will take this NCLEX exam. We all have one aim is to pass this test. And I hope we all made it because not only we can have a decent paying job but most important is we can help people and make a difference.
I am studied only Saunders and took Kaplan Review on Demand review.
I finished all the content. I've read their book from cover to cover. I finished all their lecture content videos and all videos provided. I did all the question trainers and read every single rationale. It is frustrating that because I am squeezing my brains out and still getting low scores. I am just wishing myself luck.
My scores:
Diagnostic: 59%
Q1- 65%
Q2-60%
Q3-60%
Q4- 50%
Q5-50%
Q6-54%
Q7- 57%
Readiness Test: 58%
Finished all Qbank 100% and my score is 54%...
I have read all the rationale and did what I can. I am just anxious and frustrated I got all these low scores. But I have faith in God. It is too late for me to back out now it is Friday and Pearsonvue site is under construction so I will just try my luck on Monday. To all of us on the same boat, I am praying for all of us and I will update this page when I get my results. God bless us all and let us just keep the faith.

Hugs, and deep breath! Worst case scenario, you don't pass and have to hit the books some more. One way or another, you'll be okay. Just go and do your best.
thank you very much. I hope this will be the first and last time I will review for the test. I am just telling myself If its not yet for me there's always another chance in God's perfect timing.

I graduated in August. Had so many problems with my application in CA. Got approved Halloween, studied for 2 weeks and tested Nov 14. I started working this past week and it's awesome! Think of the feeling of accomplishmen you will have. If you have studied as best you can to prepare, there's not much else you can do but go in and give it everything you've got. If you find yourself overwhelmed during the test stop taking questions and take a few deep breaths. One question at a time... you CAN do it :)

Hi there, I understand EXACTLY how you feel because my situation is very similar to yours. I too graduated in 2007 from a BSN program in Ireland and practiced at ward level and ER for 4 years before getting a Masters in Public Health and moving on to coordinating clinical trials and conducting health research studies for 3 years. We moved here exactly a year ago and although getting my education and everything approved and sorted went swimmingly well and I could have taken this exam and obtained a license at the beginning of the year, I kept putting it off and putting it off.
I was worried because not only had I graduated from a foreign school years ago, I have also not been actively nursing for 4 years now!! I finally made up my mind and started studying 3 weeks ago. I signed up for Hurst review, borrowed the Kaplan strategy book and the Lippincott book from a friend, watched u tube videos like Mike Linares from simple nursing and stuff like that. I must confess that I am not a dedicated student and have always approached studying very casually and rather lazily ... but it has always worked for me.
I took the NCLEX at 8 am and the screen turned blue at 95 questions. I was sure I had failed but lo and behold I passed!! yay!
My point is, I am sure you will be fine.
Your vast experience will NOT count against you but will actually be a blessing. Just remember to RELAX. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
THIS IS WHAT WORKED FOR ME
I made sure to focus on each question completely and only concerned myself with one question at a time.
I tried to visualize the scenario ( where possible).
Only call a doctor when there is absolutely nothing you can do to help the client. In an emergency or to clarify an instruction.
Think Maslow
Try to assess before implementing unless assessing will mean delaying care or is not indicated.
If all are implementation and you are still unsure, pick the one that does the least harm to your client.
of course your ABCs
always think of the safety of your client
You will be ok. while the exam does need you to be alert and to think critically, I actually found that it was not as difficult as I hard expected.
Get a good nights sleep tonight and the best of luck to you tomorrow! :)
Thanks to all of you who is so supportive and thinking everything will be good. I am in the hotel which is 2 mins away from the test center. I decided to come a day early to the nearest accommodation so I don't have to worry as much getting there. I will keep my updates as soon as I Am done with the test. God bless u all

You are going to pass tomorrow. Rest, relax and trust that God and you are in this together. Believe in yourself. You are already a RN you just need the NCLEX to be marked PASSED so you can work in the USA. I will send prayers up for you. Good luck.

yea, anxiety..your not the only one! Anxiety is the fear of the unknown. Do your best, and if you screw up...you will have another chance. As long as you pass. I love the term social anxiety, its been around since the stone age. Got nothing to do with religion, its you that has to do it.
