I need some advice! I have been told that I am most likely going to be offered a monitoring agreement after a dui conviction( 1st offense) last year. I am wondering if it is worth getting the second opinion and meeting with the addictionologist??? Also wondering if anyone has met with one which one they met with or who they would recommend and what to expect. I am so worried about entering an agreement with all the stipulations that I might lose my job. I want to do everything possible to make sure that doesn’t happen. I have no history of any substance abuse and I do not have any issues with alcoholism, it was a one time mistake that I have definitely paid for. Any advice would we welcomed!!

My 2nd evaluator was straight up honest with me and said due to my OWI, I automatically get an agreement no matter what. I requested the 2nd eval. Ugh that's frustrating! Glad they closed it for you, hopefully you hear soon. I understand the anxiety...we are expected to have all things done quickly but they move so slowly.
Why wasn't it legal? How long is your agreement? Have you talked to any of the BON people? I'm so afraid they will ask me to do a second evaluation with HPRP .... mine is not owi, just suspected diversion with no proof, just not charted. I just want this to be over. I want my life back. Every email, every text I feel like it's BON ... I hate this so much

Bc a licensed therapist gave me a diagnosis in a 30 min virtual eval with nothing but a few questions. The psychiatrist should have been the one to diagnose. But I just gave up. Oh yours is very different...you should be fine. Even with a second eval, you'll be fine. Kinda crazy they reported you to HPRP for not charting...a simple mistake we all could make bc we are overwhelmed. You should OK, case will be closed.

I signed a 3 year contact, did 2 evals. My first evaluator is also serving as my therapist and she's confused why they gave me all of this and said she'll try to get it shortened.
It's not about Recovery Trek or Affinity. These are just outsourced monitoring based computer platforms. They don't decide how much you test. Your case manager/state/recovering/Monitoring Program does. There are NPS in Michigan who test 3 times a month for 5 years. There are nurses who test 5 times per month for a year, then down to 4 times per month, then 3, etc...Some have testing increased the final year. It depends on your diagnosis of mild or moderate or severe and former drugs of choice and length of time you have, 3 years or 4 or 5, etc. There isn't a set cookie cutter approach and this is not just specific to each state or each monitoring program, but specific to each nurses case.
Example. I have 3 NPs friends in Michigan One tests 2 times monthly for 5 years. One tested 5 times per month for year 1, then 4 times per month for year 2, then 3 times per month for year 3 and she was done at 3 years. The other one had a 5 year contract and tested 2 times per month for 2 years, 14 times per year for years 3 and 4, and 36 times in the final year.
Short answer....it varies.
