This is my first time in this forum. This is really very informative forum. I need to ask if anyone knows about SEC assessment. Please I need some help and also anyone knows about the assessment dates.

hello how long is the bridging program and how much is its tutition fee? i'm really confused, if you take the assessment for 5 days, then after one month you will receive the reslt that you did not pass and you need to take the bridging program. is it ok to apply for student visa?

I am also going to be doing the SEC assessments in Alberta. I'm a Canadian, but was educated in the U.S. and just got the letter a few weeks ago. I have heard that if you have to do the bridging program it can be anywhere from a few days to a couple of months depending on what area you need remediation in.

Hi,

I took the SEC Assessment and 3 weeks later I got my results! I was told to take a 35 hr online course called, "Nursing in Canada." And then I was given a provisional RN license so that I can work while I wait to write the exam! I'll be writing the exam this June! Wish me luck

Rottieluv congratulations!!!! am happy for you!!! Please which province did you apply? Please share your experince. I took my sec two week+ 4days ago and and am patiently waiting for the result,wish me luck. Thanks and congratulations once again.

Thank you Chinma! I applied for registration in BC. It took a year to get my credentials assessed in order to take the SEC assessment but once I was finished and got my results everything moved pretty quick! I wish you the best of luck with your nursing endeavours and I hope you get your results soon!

Hi! I just want to know does anyone tried to take the CCA in Winnipeg Manitoba? my appointment will be this May 1st week. I'm still confused if I will take the CCA. I understand that I need to go back here. Is it possible to work or volunteer in any home care while waiting for the result? Can I apply for work permit for practical nurse or nanny ?

I think for single entry visa, it is valid for 6 months. So I have enough time to take the refresher course and then CRNE. I am still waiting for the appointment letter to be given to the canadian consul so I can start my visa application. Hopefully, the embassy could grant me a visa.

You can not work on a temp tourist visa and the process to register with college of LPN can take several months so no you can't work as a nurse without relevant OK from college and a temp nurse license. Just because you have a tourist visa actual time allocated will depend on the immigration officer when you come into the country.

i will take mine on september so i can't share anything for now. however, there are threads here that talks about some experiences on sec, try to check on them, though lots of them were from 2008-2009 when the sec assessment were first introduced..goodluck!
