I was just noticing that not too many of us are really writing around here!
I went on the introduction thread and even though it has been around for 2 years, I don't think anyone is really checking onit, so I thought I'd introduce myself here.
My name is Christine and I am an RN in the ICU out by Wentzville. I have worked it feels like just about evrywhere. I was a nurses' aide, monitor tech, and secretary before I became a nurse, and then I was an LPN for like 8 or 9 years before I graduated with my RN. I worked agency for awhile too. The pay was great, but boy I really got dumped on if ya know what I mean!!
I have been married for 9 years and we have 2 beautiful little ones that are 7 and almost 4. Somedays I still can't believe that I am a mom and I am "molding" 2 human beings for adulthood!!!!
I hope to hear from alot of you out there. Who knows, I might even already know some of you (right Michelle?)
Take care everyone and talk to you soon.

Hi!
I also live in Troy. I'm 32 and going into the nursing program this fall at St. Charles. I was hoping to be able to work somewhere fairly local after school (I know nothing about the hospitals though). I've got a 9 year old and moved here from Washington state about a year and a half ago.

Hi Krista.....good luck in school! I haven't worked in a hospital for quite a few years, but have friends who work at some of the more local hospitals, and seem to like it. Glad to see another Troy gal here!

great to meet all of you!
Krista- You should think of coming here to SJW. We have been building bigger and we sure could use a few good nurses! If you have any questions about the place here, I would giv eyou an honest opinion anytime.
To Christine and SWRN84-
Thanks for your replies and welcome. You can count on it that I will be asking questions about different work environments at different hospitals. I've been at this message board long enough to hear horror stories, and don't want to land my first job at a place that likes to eat employees (or nurses for that matter... I'm not too thin skinned, but don't want anything overboard). I don't know if there are any hospitals like that around here. The only "bad" thing I've heard is a nurse's strike at St. Johns.
Christine, you mentioned SJW. I'm sorry, but I am not familiar with the hospitals here. What is that? I also hear that Crossroads in Wentzville is turning exclusively into a psych hospital. What do you know about that?

Hi all...I'm from Tulsa, coming to Missouri for a travel assignment...Springfield seemed kind of wild, so I'm going to Osage Beach...I love St. Louis, but I don't want to be that far from home right now. I'm really looking forward to this!

Hi. I am new to this board, from Kansas City area. Just graduated in 2005, having gone back to school after my kids were grown and gone. I'm working acute dialysis now, but not so sure that is where I want to end up.
