Hi!
I also live in Troy. I'm 32 and going into the nursing program this fall at St. Charles. I was hoping to be able to work somewhere fairly local after school (I know nothing about the hospitals though). I've got a 9 year old and moved here from Washington state about a year and a half ago.

hi folks--i am new to this board but already have heard helpful tips about what others experiences are in this field---i have been informed that there is an instructional video on how to maneuver about in this forum-guess i need to check it out---if anyone has any info on forest park or meramec comm college nursing program i would love to hear it---thanks,jakh
To Christine and SWRN84-
Thanks for your replies and welcome. You can count on it that I will be asking questions about different work environments at different hospitals. I've been at this message board long enough to hear horror stories, and don't want to land my first job at a place that likes to eat employees (or nurses for that matter... I'm not too thin skinned, but don't want anything overboard). I don't know if there are any hospitals like that around here. The only "bad" thing I've heard is a nurse's strike at St. Johns.
Christine, you mentioned SJW. I'm sorry, but I am not familiar with the hospitals here. What is that? I also hear that Crossroads in Wentzville is turning exclusively into a psych hospital. What do you know about that?

I was just noticing that not too many of us are really writing around here!
I went on the introduction thread and even though it has been around for 2 years, I don't think anyone is really checking onit, so I thought I'd introduce myself here.
My name is Christine and I am an RN in the ICU out by Wentzville. I have worked it feels like just about evrywhere. I was a nurses' aide, monitor tech, and secretary before I became a nurse, and then I was an LPN for like 8 or 9 years before I graduated with my RN. I worked agency for awhile too. The pay was great, but boy I really got dumped on if ya know what I mean!!
I have been married for 9 years and we have 2 beautiful little ones that are 7 and almost 4. Somedays I still can't believe that I am a mom and I am "molding" 2 human beings for adulthood!!!!
I hope to hear from alot of you out there. Who knows, I might even already know some of you (right Michelle?)
Take care everyone and talk to you soon.
