Hello everyone i need some help please?

Published

HI i am new to this nurse site, and seems to be helpful to others. i have a question i am going through a rough time right now, deciding what school to go for, for nursing in ct? if anyone can give there input on what schools are good it would help my dicussion a lot. i was thinking about either naughtuck valley in waterbury or capital community in hartford or even goodwin tech privite college in east hartford they have a new program for RN's now. i have heard lots of things from these schools but its all so much to take in, i have most of my pre-requires in already so i am looing to jump right in. so if anyone out there can help please do.

Thanks

Any of those RN programs are acceptable. I work with several RN's who completed some of those programs. Go for whatever suits your schedule I ahve been here in CT. hospital througout my entire nursing career (almost 20 years) Good luck. :balloons:

Hello

thanks for answering, do any of the nurses say anything about one being better then the other or if they liked one school over the other?

Thanks

I suppose it depends a lot on what track you want to follow for your RN, how much you can afford both in $ and time. I have no information on quality of any of the schools. We occasionally have students from various schools but that's it. I would go around, visit and get a flair for each program and talk to some present students. Good luck to you.

Hi again

Thanks i think i will try that, just thought maybe someone on here might give me a heads up on any of the school!

Thanks again

I see that you are possibly looking into Naugatuck Valley. I worked with a lot of nurses who graduated from there. They were great nurses.

I go to goodwin college in East Hartford. It has pros and cons. First it is a new program (I'm in the first RN class) So you hit some gliches along to way. For example there has been an explosion in the number of students attending the school, which has caused a tremendous parking problem, the are still trying to work out. They are much more flexible than other programs, as far as fitting school into your life. The school is very receptive to student feedback. I majority of students are not fresh out of high school, which I think is a bonus, you get a lot of feedback and discussion among a veriety of people. The clinical instructors are all very good. It is expensive and untested. We will be graduating in August. The proof will come if we pass the NCLEX
