Height and Weight Requirements

Published

How closely does the Army and/or Navy follow the height and weight requirements for the Nurse Corps?

I have seen varied levels of fitness for nurses in the military, and was just wondring if they bend the rules at all...........

Three Words: Cabbage Soup Diet

hah... but seriously I concur with Esh. The great thing about the military is that standards are very clear and it's actually nice to know the standard and to work towards compliance. My alter ego 2 cents is that don't worry to much as nursing is less physically focused then many other jobs...that being said I still plan on rocking PT tests ;).

In the past 5 years cross fit has been very popular, especially in ranks of military, as a non standard means of an awesome workout... dynamic movements.... interesting work outs... gut puking strain.. not for the week hearted ;) http://www.crossfit.com/

Sassy Sailor, you are right on point.:imbar I am just embarking upon enlisting and I have more than a few pounds to loose. But I am not discouraged. I hit the gym everynight, have a personal trainer and plan on loosing the fat before I even sign my life away. I have faith I can do it!

You ar e right on point. I plan to enlist after I have lost the fat! I hit the gym every night with a personal trainer and I am no longer ashamed to allow my fat to giggle to get the weight off!

Good job metamorphosis,

Stay motivated. I felt so good when I went to the gym yesterday and finished working out. The gym manager who gave me a hard time when I first joined looked at me and said girl you are going to look so fine in your uniform. I just :D. I would rather go in looking good then all that pressure. I look at it as the its good for the military to have a fit person and its good for my body to be healthier. We have to encourage each other!

Sassy Sailor,

Your words are so true. It made my day to hear that the guy at the gym gave you a compliment as such:yeah:. I would like to hear the same thing! We as women need that from time to time. I too went to the gym last night and worked my buns off! I worked on my abs and my arms and then did 20 minutes on the treatmill and 20 minutes on the stair climber. I was there for almost two hours. I am so serious about getting into the military, that I can taste it. I've always wanted it and I am gonna get it. My husband did 6 years in the AForce and I rerally wanted in then, but I was too busy having chilren and getting my nursing degrees. Now wanting to get my PhD. in nursing and being 34 yo I feel I can hold off on my PhD. for a year, enlist and fullfill my dream. In addition, your comment about the military wanting us fit, but the exercise is good for our health speaks volumes! Gurllllll! So true. I will get my youthful figure back and you will too! I will continue to motivate you as I too need all the motivation I can get. At work now, :typing but if you find time comment back.

That's wonderful.......:yeah: When I started the link I was asking about H&W and military flexibility, because I wanted to know if they were willing to work with you on the weight loss. Seems as though the recruiters will and that's good to know.......

Yep I know the feeling... Started at size 42 and now wear size 32 and still plan on going down some more. Although I have to say my wife is jealous because I now like to clothes shop (something about it being a smaller size I think)....

If I am within my weight range I get to avoid the tape....

I congratulate all who are going through this.... It's not fun but then it is.

Hmmm getting closer to Hammer time!!!
